AURORA, Colo. -- In a case that lays bare deep divisions on immigration, a Colorado congressman is urging immigration officials to deport an honors student who spoke out about the difficulties of undocumented youths trying to attend college in the United States.
Tancredo asked immigration authorities to remove 17-year-old Jesus Apodaca and his family from the country earlier this month after the youth was featured in a front-page story by The Denver Post about the dilemmas undocumented teenagers face when trying to go to college. The family has lived illegally in the United States for five years.

Hatch and Cannon, who purport to uphold and obey the law of the land, show their true colors as panderers to minority groups who put their political well-being above the law. Hatch, for one, has become a RINO long ago....

illegal immigrant children have the right to public education through high schoolWhy? The only "right" they should have is a one-way ticket back to whence they came. If you people want to come here, do it properly and legally, and stop expecting us citizens and taxpayers to support you.

Why? The Supreme Court says so.

Stick to your guns, Tom. Don't let the bastards railroad you.

Two Utah Republicans, Sen. Orrin Hatch and Rep. Chris Cannon, are sponsoring legislation that would make it easier for states to offer in-state tuition rates to resident illegal immigrants if they so choose.
This just boggles my freakin' mind. Just what part of their oath of office didn't these idiots understand. Obviously, all of it. Ah, the irony.
To: Marine Inspector
It was more of a rhetorical question. Unfortunately, the court has found that illegals have all kinds of "rights" to suckle at the taxpayers' teat, just as it has invented the right to kill one's child in utero, but I still disagree.

Agreed.

Too bad the headline wasn't a little more honest like "Congressman Wants
Illegal out of U.S."
Actually this whole article is a distortion. According to Tancredo he asked that someone at the INS look into the situation, not mentioning Apodaca by name, and did not order anyone to deport this "model student".

Maybe Borin' Orrin will shed some light on this on his next Kumbaya CD release....

The family has lived illegally in the United States for five years.At least we won't hear the argument that this student doesn't even know his homeland.
I would think this student would be welcome to Mexico enthusiastically. Brains, accomplishments, a knowledge of US culture and society...what's the big deal about going home for college and his future?
There should be no exceptions for the best and the brightest. Illegals belong in their homelands; end of discussion. It seems that those who are asking for exceptions here are the ones who don't understand the concepts of equality and fairness.
As usual, Representative Tancredo has it right.

I've long held the theory that Orrin Hatch, Bob Dole and George HW Bush (#41) were in fact all the same person.
They all feature the same brand of "moderatation"...i.e., liberals pretending to be conservatives pretending to be moderates;
There is a bit of a resemblence between Hatch and Bush;
Bush waged the war of coitus interruptus against Iraq, whereby he did not complete the task;
Dole hawks Viagra.
That's enough linkage for me.

Good points. I actually know of a gringo who died a millionaire and had owned Pepsi bottling plants in the US. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Mexico in Mexico City....

I couldn't agree with you more, and am brokenhearted over this as well. Immigration is the number one crisis facing this country today (illegal and legal -- this country is overrun, period), and "our" government (with Jorge Bush and Congress at the helm) are selling us down the river -- and our children's future -- just so they can pimp for ethnic votes and retain power. If Bush was really the decent Bible-following Christian he claims to be, he would uphold the Constitution and protect the American people, fighting Congress for the right to defend our borders with the military. With all the billions we are throwing away on these invaders (particularly illegals) for health care, welfare, housing, and schooling (not to mention the additional billions spent on prisons), we could easily fund the securitization of the borders. IMO, the "War on Terror" is a total farce as long as their are open borders, esp. when any trash who wants to can just traipse across the U.S. Welcome Mat.

Got an e-mail for Sen. Hatch? I'm of a mind to write the coward and give him a piece of my mind.

Not only are they unwilling to give up any funds they already receive but will always be looking for ways to justify even greater funding. Government wins/ Americans lose....again.

You can reach him via Teddie Kennedy's office....
