Noelle Bush vs Roger Clinton: A Tale of Two Drug Tapes
NewsMax ^ | 9/23/02 | Limbacher

An recording of an anonymous 9-11 caller who complained to police that first niece Noelle Bush had been caught with drugs earlier this month while being treated at a Florida rehab center is now being covered by the mainstream press, with the Miami Herald quoting extensively from the audiotape in its Monday editions.

The decision to report on the tape stands in stark contrast to the discretion shown by mainstream news organizations in August 2001, when former first brother Roger Clinton entered an Arizona drug rehab center after admitting to doctors that he'd had a "frightening" cocaine habit for the duration of his brother's presidency.

On the Bush 9-11 tape, recorded Sept. 9, an alleged resident of the center complains that because Noelle is the daughter of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush she's being treated like a "princess" at the center, where her repeated drug relapses went unpunished.

''She does this all the time and she gets out of it because she's the governor's daughter,'' the anonymous caller purporting to be a fellow patient of Bush's alleges. "But we're sick of it here 'cause we have to do what's right, but she gets treated like some kind of princess. We're just trying to get our lives together, and this girl's bringing drugs on property.''

Though it's unclear why the 9-11 tape was released - or even why the Florida 9-11 operator entertained what was clearly a non-emergency complaint, the tape began getting airplay on talk radio stations last week.

But the Herald report is the first mainstream print coverage of the call.

The reports have drawn criticism from some Republicans who complain that the mainstream press refused to even report Roger Clinton's decision to enter the Cottonwood de Tucson Drug Rehab Center a year ago in August, just weeks after plea bargaining his way out a possible jail sentence for drunk driving in California - even after his lawyer confirmed the story.

A videotape far more damning than the Bush 9-11 audio, showing Mr. Clinton snorting cocaine and hurling racial epithets, has received almost no press coverage whatsoever.

No Clinton family member has ever been asked about the 1984 police surveillance video, where the Clinton sibling brags about having Arkansas law enforcement in his pocket and repeatedly refers to a local African-American acquaintance as a "n----r."

In the interest of balance, NewsMax.com reprints below excerpts from the Clinton video:

ROGER: Beggars can't be choosers ... and I'm out of a deal. It was just like Sam except this is some good stuff, see. Sam doesn't have any good stuff.

FRIEND: You mean that s--t?

ROGER: Hey, it wasn't bad.

FRIEND: I thought that was f--king pretty good.

ROGER: That was mine. That wasn't Sam's.

FRIEND: Oh, it was?

ROGER: Yeah. But see, that wasn't as good as I get. That wasn't near - No, no, that's just what I had left.

FRIEND: You want to do some here?

ROGER: I don't care. What kind? Yeah, I'll take a line.

(Roger snorts cocaine and continues to chop the drug on a coffee table as the conversation continues.)

ROGER: Well, what did he do with the - you know what I sold him? I'll be honest with you. You know what I sold him? I gave him a quarter (gram). You know what I sold it to him for?

FRIEND: $650?

ROGER: $650.

FRIEND: And you charged me $750. I know your scam.

(Tape edit: Roger and friend move on to new topic.)

ROGER: Yeah, some n----r, some junior high n----r kicked Steve's ass while he was trying to help his brothers out.

FRIEND: Was he in junior high?

ROGER: Junior high or sophomore in high school. Whatever it was, Steve had the n----r down. However it was, it was Steve's fault. He had the n----r down, he let him up.

FRIEND: The n----r blindsided him?

ROGER: The n----r blindsided him.

(Tape edit: Roger and friend resume talking about cocaine.)

ROGER: I took three-quarters of an ounce up there just because - and I thought I had too much.

FRIEND: Unintelligible.

ROGER: F--k, it went in one day and then I didn't have anything left.

ROGER (Chopping cocaine on a coffee table) Yeah, this is definitely a good half-gram.

FRIEND: So you don't know anything about the party?

ROGER: (Shakes his head no and reaches for the phone)

FRIEND: Who you calling?

ROGER: Um, my buddy here. (Speaking into the phone) Hey now, hey now. Where's Maurice? This is Roger. This is his buddy in Arkansas.

(Substance of phone conversation edited out.)

ROGER (Hanging up phone) Bye.

FRIEND: Has he got any coke?

ROGER: He's just acting like a little p---k. Yeah, he's got plenty of coke.

FRIEND: What did he say?

ROGER: He wants to talk to me because he's heard that, ah - I said, "What's wrong, did you get in trouble?" He said, "No, I heard it was the other way around." I said, "Listen, I told you that last year, you're going to keep hearing that."

FRIEND: Who'd he hear that from?

ROGER: Well, he hears it from everybody. I hear it all the time, you know. I know people are talking. I know there's about four detectives here in town that will do - I mean, I know for a fact two of them as a matter of fact this past week have been talking to people in town.

FRIEND: Who's that?

ROGER: Well, it's just a couple of detectives, but see ...

FRIEND: I think we saw one of them there.

ROGER: One of them's Travis Bunn. The other one - that's the only one. I really don't like to say any names because I don't like to even talk about it. Because that's what keeps me one step ahead of the deal, see. 'Cause I've got, I've got about four or five people in uniform that keep an eye on these people that keep an eye on me, you know, and they, they - these uniform people help me stay one step ahead of the game. Talk about childish irresponsibility. Is crack cocaine really so tempting that the mere presence of it threatens to disrupt this loser's "rehabilitation"? Gimme a break.

From the article that I read, I'm not convinced that the drugs weren't planted.

What about the FBI tape where he says his brother has a nose like a vacuum cleaner?

(Substance of phone conversation edited out.)

And why was it edited out? Because Maurice is a member of a huge Mexican drug cartel.

This is old news. Move along. We all know that Bill got Roger out of jail and pardoned (sort of) his supplier.
