Open Your Junkmail - Marc Racicot ENCLOSING REAL $1 DOLLAR BILLS in RNC moneygrubbing letters.
9/22/02 junkmail from Mark Racicot | Jeff B.

Posted on 09/23/2002 1:55:28 PM PDT by RFP

If you get a "pre-sorted first class" letter in a grey envelope from Marc Racicot - Republican Party Headquarters, don't pitch it in the trash with all the rest of the typical election season moneygrubbing junk. More than likely, there's a crisp new 2001 series one dollar bill inside.

Marc Racicot is trying to make current and former RNC contributors feel guilty by enclosing the following message:

I'm sending you the enclosed dollar bill to underscore the urgency of the final days of the 2002 campaign...That's why I'm counting on you to return the enclosed dollar bill along with an emergency contribution of at least $25 for a total contribution of $26 or more....I've sent you the enclosed dollar bill as a symbol of my confidence in your commitment to our party...

blah, blah, blah, typical 4-page letter of Repubbie BS.

I haven't contributed to the RNC in over two years after I saw the way they waste their money, and especially after I saw to whom what is left goes to: McInsane, Connie Morella, Jim Leach, and a multitute of other RINOs who make my brain hurt just trying to list their names! The RNC contributes to these weak candidates instead of backing good conservatives like Brett Schundler, Jay Wolfe, etc.

If any Freepers rescue one of these dollar bills from the round file, I trust they'll put it to good conservative use, hint, hint.

Yeah, a couple of years ago they did the same thing. They sent a dollar bill plus a first-class stamp (loose) to put on the envelope that you were supposed to use to mail your donation.

I pocketed the dollar and used the stamp to mail my power bill. I tossed the rest. I bet I don't get another one.

I thought they stopped printing dollar bills in 2000, when they introduced the new doin.

Yep! I take the money I save by not contributing to the RINOs at the RNC and donate it to Landmark Legal, Pacific Legal, Gun Owners of America, etc. I've also heard that the Club for Growth is pretty good; and I may add them to the list. Their aim is to get the most bang for the buck by helping candidates who are 1) non-RINOs and 2) in close but winnable races.

The RNC must offer this approach as a package to Republican candidates. I just got an identical letter and dollar bill from Bob Ehrlich, the Republican candidate for Governor in Maryland.

Bob is not my idea of the ideal conservative candidate, but frankly no real conservative is going to win in Maryland, and he is a good guy with good instincts on most issues. Since the alternative is Kathleen KENNEDY Townsend, Bob will get my vote and even more of my money than he has already gotten. His victory would be a body blow to the RATS (coming on the heels of the defeat of Mark Shriver in the RAT primary for Congress). Bob has inched ahead in the polls, and he can win if he gets our support. The RATS are about to unleash a firestorm of negative advertising. He can counter it (lord knows, there is plenty negative to say about the Glendenning/Townsend administration) if he can match the bucks flowing into RAT coffers from California and Massachusetts. So, don't pocket those dollars. Send them to Bob Ehrlich (with a few more of your own thrown in for good measure).

I stopped contributing to the RNC after my one time contribution to Ollie North's unsuccessful Senate run got me put on about 2 dozen fund raising mailing lists associated with the RNC that all tried to hit me up for $25, $50 or $100, as well as numerous additional begmails from Mr. North's campaign. I will donate to candidates I believe in, not to the party. I am personally offended by organizations that ask for more just because you gave something. If they would stop this practice of hitting up donors over and over after they've made a contribution, they'd probably bring in more cash.

The amount they've spent sending me pitches for donations has probably exceeded my original contribution by 2 or 3 to one.

I'd rather contribute to the Boy Scouts, NRA, Free Republic, JPFO, etc., as well as anonymous donations to local candidates.

While I've long considered myself to be a Republican, I seldom join or contribute organized activities. In 2000, I was so outraged by the evil carpet bagger that I sent Rick Lazio a check for $50. Neither he nor his campaign ever acknowledged my check but he must have sold my name and address to every Republican and conservative organization in the country. If every piece of mail that I get from one of these campaigns had a dollar bill in it, I bet I'd have about $500 for this year alone. There are days when I get five letters and my wife will get three. But, your note will cause me to open them rather than trash them.

hmm, I'm mad at the RNC too. I'd better open my mail. I've received $2 in the mail recently. One from the WSJournal and one from Linda Chavez. This must be a new trend. I admit it works. I sent Linda a donation and her $1 back. I'll send in the requested survey to WSJ and keep the buck. Pretty cool.

Oh, the RNC is wasting a dollar on me. I'll just pocket the money.

I'll never give the RNC another penny as long as they keep sending fund-raising letters in envelopes that resemble those from a certain governmental agency.
I see the envelope, my heart stops, and starts again. Then I get really pi88ed when I see who it's from.

There were at least six pieces of political mail today. Everything went into the trash, catalogs included. The only thing I saved was my NRA magazine.

LOL

I just did rescue it!

Thank goodness I read your thread while my pile of junk mail was still lying atop the stuff in the wastebasket and had not come in contact with goo.

Appreciate the headsup.

I can't count the letters from the RNC, the RSCC, etc., that I've trashed without opening. However, I usually tear them in half before disposing of them. I think the dollar bill would have prevented that, or at least made it difficult.

I'm also getting tired of their damned telemarketers calling.

I make few contributions to politicians but when I do, I direct them judiciously. A donation to the RNC just pays for more junk mail.
