You asked if there was any defense of the mother in your post.
You said, "Maybe her kid pushes all the right buttons and does it for fun. (no one here knows)."
That implies that the child could have been asking for the beating, which would then justify the beating. There's not a thing in the world that the child could have done that would have justified that.
There's a story here alright. Not about what this woman did or didn't do. There's a political story about what the government and the media can and will do to a person if given half a chance. It raises some interesting questions like why, how far can they go and who's next? And for what? But it's a whole lot easier to forget all that and let the media and the government dance you around like puppets. It's always fun to be part of something.
What Toogood did has no justification. Everyone was certain that the child was beaten to a pulp and they were screaming for the womans head on a pike. The media whipped that frenzy up and it now turns out that I was right. The video did not prove that she beat the child senseless. The prosecutor and now a doctor have confirmed that not to be the case.
You can "wash your hands of me", which in other words means "you are walking away from your own big talk" but you still haven't shown one post from ANYONE that defends Toogood or her actions. I am tired of people twisting my words. Put up or shut up!
It was quite noticeable to my wife, .30Carbine, and myself that out of all the people so filled with 'moral outrage' at this 'monstrous attack' not one has expressed thanks or relief that the little girl has been found to be alive, safe and not severely injured. I guess they are waiting for the media to suggest it.
...and pouring your scorn and the woman's lawyer who doesn't look as expensive as he should.
That's probably my fault. I suggested it here "Put her face on every website and every milk carton in the land and let's have Geraldo and O'Reilly get her lawyer on the air and call him some nasty names too." before he was introduced to the public.
I misjudged Jeraldo. Instead of a nasty interview with the lawyer he just came out touting the Taliban cure. Doggone me! I went and suggested that too.
"She used her hands to hit the kid so why not just whack 'em off?"
I've got to stop giving these people ideas. Next thing you know someone will take bvw's post seriously. Oh wait! Someone did.
The media has accomplished its task for its leftist masters. The American public is now focused on social advocacy issues, like Dashole and co. wanted. Iraq is off the radar. The war on terrorism is old news. One of my wifes co-workers asked her yesterday "What is it about Iraq anyway? Why are we so mad at Saddam Hussein?" They work in the Post Office so you would think the events of last year would have stuck with her/him a little longer.
I don't watch O'Reilley but the source is credible.
When he has a liberal backed into a corner and snaps at them like a bulldog every time they try to spin he's great. I'm sure liberals love him when he trys to do that with a conservative. Too bad for them that conservatives don't give O'Reilly as much material to work with.
The following is now being reported on the Fox News website:
A doctor examined the girl at Toogood's request in Bay Head, N.J., before she turned herself in over the weekend, authorities said. They said the physician, Dr. Jack Haberman, found no medical problems and no long-term signs of abuse.
Toogood decided to take pictures of her daughter without clothes on "as documentation of their contention that she had not been abused," said Kenneth W. Keller, a Monmouth County, N.J., prosecutor.
Haberman had the film developed at a pharmacy, where workers alerted police about possible child pornography, Keller said. The prosecutor said those fears were probably unwarranted but an investigation was continuing.
Unreal! This proves that the govt. bureaucrats will stop at NOTHING when they set out to destroy an individual. I also hear that the IRS is going after the Toogood family finances now. IRS needs it's pound of flesh also.
(Great post of yours, btw.)
But hey, on this current subject -- I agree with you. I also agree with others that the mom's a booster and a grifter and was in the process of doing so when this all went down. Especially after seeing the mommy on Van Blondie on FNN last night.
Yet the mom loves her daughter, and that "beating" looked like a lot of arm motion, arm waving and wailing and little or no effective contact -- and since I've been in fights I can dang well tell -- that is -- what can be told at all from such restrticted angle and no so high quality video.
I'm not for putting the child into the hands of a bureaucracy when a good Doctor has examined her and found naught.
This is all the a hawker's sway over a mob to move some goods, and the media is pulling the biggest grift of all and doing far more the harm, such as be seen with ninny weak willies like "alnick".
The FReeper lynch mob better get a move on before there's nothing left of her to punish./semi-sarcasm
When it was reported that she had videotaped her daughter I figured it had been sans clothes. It wouldn't have been worth anything as evidence if it weren't. It also crossed my mind that she would be accused of child pornography. The pea sized minds of statist tyrants are so easy to predict.
Has anyone wondered why, out of the hundreds of far more horrible cases of child abuse, this one is the one the media chose? There are certainly more graphic examples to be had if child abuse is truly the issue they want to galvanize public opinion on. Has anyone wondered 'why now?'? In terms of a media blitz that is.
Did Greta and Geraldo just discover child abuse this week?/sarcasm
After all the jealous speculating that 'people who migrate to do seasonal work don't deserve and cannot possibly afford SUV's and other nice vehicles therefore they must have stolen them' will they take it back if it is found that they legally bought them and their payments are current? Will it even be reported?
I guess that will be academic after the IRS seizes their vehicles and their trailer. Which in turn will strengthen CPS's case for removal of the children. No home, no means of earning a living without cars, bankruptcy and all that.
Isn't interdepartmental cooperation between the Feds the States and local gov's a beautiful thing? I feel so much more secure now that the government has a handle on the Irish Traveler/child slapping thing. The need for armed pilots and tighter borders was just hysterical overkill in the wake of 9/11.
Am I that transparent?
