RALEIGH, N.C. -- It's not rocket science to figure out the rejection of a lottery referendum in the state House last week was a sound defeat for Gov. Mike Easley. So how did he soar again so fast?
Easley's drive for his education initiatives paid off in a handsome dividend in the state budget - which may place more lottery pressure on lawmakers next year.

"This issue is not going to go away," Easley said. "It's going to keep coming back up. The education lottery is one that will come up each session." One need know no more about Easley than this to see he needs to go. He has found his "golden egg" and refuses to give it up.

It will make no difference. The Democrats see Easley as a serious liability, and privately, they want him gone. Watch for a challenge from inside in 04.

Well my 2nd grader brought home a note telling me that his elementary school would be the first one in Wake county to offer the "More at Four" Easley Pre-K program.
All one has to do to qualify:
Your child is not enrolled in a preschool program
Your child will be 4 years old on or before October 16,2002
Your child has health concerns or special needs
Your family qualifies for financial assistance
English is your child's second language
You are currently seeking employment
Sounds pretty easy to qualify, I don't have a four year old anymore, mine turned 5 in Aug so I can't cash in D%#^
We have to pay for our pre-school, I want my tax dollars to pay for it. I could say I was looking for work couldn't I?
