WABE-FM (a NPR affiliate) reported at 8AM today that the Alligator Alley Three will be permitted to study medicine at Larkin Medical Schools once media attention has abated. The three medical students were initially suspected of being involved in a terrorist plot September 13th when a Eunice Stone, a customer of a Georgia Shoneys restaurant overheard them joking about the 9-11 attack and their efforts to bring something down in Miami. Ms. Stone reported the three to Georgia State Police and they were eventually found in Florida. A deal to reinstate the medical students at Larkin was brokered by CAIR.
The coffee hasn't hit yet this morning so I'm not at my maximum mental horsepower quite yet to draw any conclusions. Any thoughts out there in Freeperdom?

Not only that, but the man who originally suspended the students from the hospital has been terminated. If this keeps up, I'm going to convert to nihlism.

Now they can murder Christians and Jews under their Islamic doctrine
once their licence to murder is given to them.
How many Islamic doctors hurt their patients who are not Moslem?

Go to the top of this page, find and click "search", type in "CAIR" in the dialogue box, click, and voila', everything you ever wanted to know about the subject magically appears.

The weapon that will destroy America is not a bomb. The weapon that will destroy America is "political correctness."
Our enemies understand this better than Americans do.

Sandflea,
I was completely unaware of that bit of info.
Now that the coffee's flowing, it appears that Larkin's previous position has been "flipped" and no-one is getting in the way of these three's medical degrees. One has to seriously ask WHY?
Alamo Girl,
Should you start a watch list on the "Alligator Alley Three" just in case?
Miss Marple,
Since you have an excellent ping list, please pass this tidbit on. Thanks.

Maybe we should also take a close look at Larkin, and how it is that CAIR should have so much pull with the hospital.

I'd like to know if any FReeper would go to one of these 'doctors' when/if they ever graduate.

the public will really benefit from having a) practical jokers with a chip on their shoulders, or b) terrorist, practicing medicine on them.
Let these boys try their luck in the Catskills. They don't belong in a serious profession.

Ah, but it is true! Do a search for CAIR. You'll see several links there where you can verify.

I don't really have a ping list, except for ATRW.
I am pinging a few people who would be interested, however.
How to explain this flip-flop? There are two choices:
1. The school was threatened by a massive lawsuit, and they changed on advice of counsel.
2. The school, acting at the request of the FBI, agreed to accept them in order that they might be watched for their contacts in Florida.
Either explanation is likely.
CAIR obviously worked real hard with these guys to scrub their image. Because they didn't have a PR person advising them at first, their true animosity towards the USA was revealed in the first hours after their release. Recognizing bad PR when they saw it, CAIR stepped in, and voila...meek and mild-mannered vicitims of a terrible misunderstanding!

They joked about terrorism, which gets you arrested and put in jail if done in an airport or plane, and it was reported they were totally uncooperative with police when stopped on Alligator Alley. Never ONCE have they expressed any regret or apology for what they wrought. That the med school has been coerced into readmitting them is truly shocking.
Joyfull is absolutely right: The weapon that will destroy America is "political correctness."
I am so depressed about this. Will this country EVER wake up? How many dead citizens will it take?

Here's Larkin's web site. Doesn't have any info that I could find about who owns it, if it's public or private. I'll look for more later.

Mew,
Darn good question.
If you or I pulled such a stunt in "college", do you think they would have us back for Fall Semester? I think not. Unless our daddy's got a really big bank roll, we would be lucky to be admited to the local community college after making a big stink like that - innocent or not. Pop would have to buy a dorm or research center in order to make up for all the bad publicity directed at the college.
That's the reason why I believe something's really special about these three. It's hard to say that money is involved. Based on the the cars the three drove and the houses their family had in the Chicago area, I doubt they could bribe their way back into Larkin's good graces.
There's something else going on here.

I think y'all should look at it from the other side.
1. Three men were having a private conversation in which only part of it was overheard by an eavesdropper.
2. The only reason the police had cause to stop these men was on a trumped-up charge that they failed to pay a toll. Later proven to wrong by videotape.
3. An explosive detecting dog supposedly alerted on one of the vehicles. No explosives were ever found.
4. After being held for 17 hours they were released. No charges filed.
Looks to me like they are due an apology from the police and their accuser.
To: jriemer
I'll keep my eye on them; however, if they are not terrorists they will low and if they are, they will be quieter still, IMHO.
To: not too stupid
Bottom line: Eunice Stone was not lying. I don't know what these guys were up to. But they ARE the enemy.

"Joyfull is absolutely right: The weapon that will destroy America is "political correctness." I am so depressed about this. Will this country EVER wake up? How many dead citizens will it take? The other weapon that will help destroy us is our own constitution, coupled with the statue of liberty, that stands in the harbor waiting to welcome people into this country who hate us and everything we stand for. The constitution will protect foreigners coming here, while we end up like Israel, watching our public transportation being blown to bits and taking the lives of innocents with it.
