Well, I hate big government. I believe the Founders intended for government to remain severely limited in power, size and scope. The limits have been removed by successive populist, progressive and liberal governments.
Government excesses need to be rolled back and the limits enforced and our Liberty restored. That is a fact and I doubt many FReepers would disagree.
I hate socialism in all it's forms. I think the income tax is an unconstitutional slave tax and that it should be repealed and replaced with an excise tax as the founders intended. I think social security is also an unconstitutional slave tax and should be repealed and not replaced. The same can be said of medi-care or any socialized health care program. The founders never intended any of this.
I hate government involvement in education. The public school system has become nothing but an expensive socialist government indoctrination camp. We can go on and on with all of the things that are wrong with this government and need to be fixed or removed, mostly removed, and I know that both parties share in the blame for much of this.
However, I see the Democrat Party as the leading cause and the primary mover for socialism in America. Their goal is to expand government and socialism even further. They will not rest until we have a completely socialized health care system.
They'll continue expanding their evil government funded abortion programs. Their taking of God and faith from every aspect of our public conscience and replacing it with homosexuality, feminism, and whatever other victimhood program they can institute.
Their goals are to systematically remove whatever defenses we may have left. They'll take our guns. You can bet on that. They'll take our right to campaign for the values we hold dear. They'll take our right to speak out or to openly resist.
Their goals include removing any all remaining constitutional restraints that stand in there way and then completely surrendering the last hopes for freedom and national sovereignty.
When President Gore or President Hillary signs the next round of international treaties, they'll be turning the keys for America over to the U.N. and other socialist world government organizations. These treaties are on equal footing with the Constitution. They become the supreme law of the land. That is the way they will finally destroy the final constitutional limits and destroy American freedom once and for all. A shot will never be fired, but we will lose it all.
And, yes, there are some Republicans who allow this to happen. Even some who join right in there. I'd love nothing more than to dump them with the evil Democrats, however, there is one giant obstacle. Political majority.
In this two party system, the party that holds the majority is the party that controls the agenda. They choose who will chair the committees and what legislation will be moved and what legislation will be killed. They control which nominees get voted on and which get shunted aside. They effectively control the judiciary. They ratify the treaties. A Democrat majority plus a handful of liberal Republicans and it's all over.
Wall-to-wall liberal activist judiciary, nothing but expanding socialist government programs as far as the eye can see, and nothing but sovereignty and freedom robbing treaties on the horizon.
You can dump the moderates and liberal Republicans if you wish, but what are you going to replace them with? Democrats? Surely you do not believe that a Libertarian or other tiny conservative third party candidate will defeat a liberal in a liberal state or district?
You will give up the Republican and give the seat to the Democrat. That's like a two for one free gimmee for the socialists. That will only make it that much harder to obtain a Republican majority.
I'll keep the moderates and attempt to dump the democrat in any race, thereby maintaining or increasing the Republican majority. There is no other way to block the socialists. We must overcome their votes.
Support and vote for the most conservative candidate, hopefully a Republican, in the primaries. That's where we can increase conservative influence and send the message. But vote for the Republican in the general election. That's were we directly re-take or increase the majority and maintain the block on the socialist agenda, and, hopefully, someday soon that majority will be large enough and conservative enough to actually start rolling it back.

happy to see someone say what you did...my biggest problem with the republican party, although i am mostly conservative about election issues, is its position on healthcare...both parties are evil when so many go without satisfactory health care...yet, we love to brag about being the richest, most powerful country in the world and the lone superpower...BS...no way that we can be truly the richest or the most super when we have tens of thousands or more dying from being unable to get proper drugs and/or medical care...that is TRULY EVIL...and overshadows any good done by our country

Labeling several million of our several countrymen as evil is manifestly untrue and such hyperbole devalues the term so as to render it meaningless. There are evil people in the world. Some of them are even Democrats, just as some are Republicans. The Vast majority are not evil, or even bad, they just hold views that are different from most here.

Demonizing those we disagree with is a dangerous path to start down, and there's too much of it from all sides.

Anyone who survived the Clinton years and is still a Democrat either doesn't know what's going on or has bought into the evil ways of the party. I will never, ever vote for any person who identifies himself with the Democrat party. Never, ever, ever!!!

Why I never understood was how Clinton/Gore weren't guilty of treason when they approved missile guidance technology to China.

Clinton did in fact arrange for the chinese communists to get several technical improvements that together gave them the ability to launch nuclear missiles at us just as well as we can launch against them. It is just a matter of time as a result of Bill Clinton's actions that they will have a nuclear arsenal that is as powerful as either our's or Russia's. Of course, I believe that a nuclear arsenal in their hands is much more dangerous than a similar arsenal in our hands.

But why was Clinton never held accountable for this? The American news media is so bigoted against conservatives that they simply couldn't expose clinton's corruption to the people. That is the biggest reason.

But there was also a struggle over it in Congress. In early December, 1996 Newt Gingrich made it known that he would pursue Clinton on this. He said it was the biggest scandal in American history. Gingrich was planning on congressional hearings that were to really go after Clinton on this. Shortly after that Gingrich made an absolute about-face. He was corrupted. There had been a 6 year effort at that time to get ethics charges against Gingrich. Those efforts were un-holy, there never was any evidence against Gingrich at all which indicated ethics problems as they charged. But in December, 96 6 out of 7 ethics committee members did something very evil. They said that Gingrich was guilty of things he was not guilty of. This included 3 of 4 republicans on the committee. Then Gingrich himself agreed publicly with the committee and asked everyone in the House to vote to have him taken out of his position as a result. Gingrich co-operated with this effort to destroy him politically.

After this there was not again any discussion of holding Clinton responsible for his corruption regarding China. The Monica Lewinsky scandal was definitely used by the news media to defend Clinton. As they relentlessly doted on that one issue they successfully created the impression that it was all about a sex scandal.

The evil side won in a big way, but they had many players on their team besides just democrat politicians.

Far more money is spent on health care for poor people by the government than any government in the world. We even pay for health care for third world children.

There is no amount of money in existence sufficient to pay for the self-created health needs of idiots. Have you any idea of the costs of too much smoking, too much drinking and too much gluttony (not to mention too much buggery) imposed by the self-indulgent.

Health care in this country is more available and better than anywhere in the world. Why do you think people from socialist states often come here for it? How many people have you heard of who go to non-Swiss European medical facilities?

In a just world, neighbors could debate and have intellectual arguments and logic would always win, because as the people who founded our government believed, Reason is the voice of God.

But in an unjust world, because I cling to the truth, and will not agree when my neighbor says black is gray, I am hateful,unfeeling, discriminatory.

Worse, if we allows laws which are based on feelings, and not on logic, then we live in tyranny. Such as, if a woman says she feels violated when a man looks at her "funny" she can take him to court for it...and win. Or hate crime legislation, that says one citizens life is of more value than another, and the offender must be punished accordingly.

I beleive it is unjust for any government to take 70% of a persons income for taxes. That is just a moral issue for me. The dems would scream if our government assessed such an outrageous levy on a single black mother. Is the application of this belief less valid when applied to Bill Gates? The law should not look at people's pocket books, or color or age. The law should just be the law, if it is to have any meaning.

My husband, Lord love him, is a Democrat. He had his eyes opened in the 2000 election, when Bob Graham, Senator from Florida, Chair of the House Comittee on Inteligence, supported Algore's efforts to throw out the votes of sailors on the USS Cole. Find a person who will support that action, and you will be looking evil in the face. Not ignorance, evil.

I read that article too, and there's something I missed: take in $1 million, get fined $243,000? That's a 75% profit, so where's the incentive to stop being corrupt? Who is the FEC in bed with?

When Attilla The Hun almost 1600 years ago decided that he wanted to destroy the Roman Empire he did not attack the Romans. Instead, he attacked some people whom he was ethnically related to, but who had been subjugated and treated like garbage by the Romans. He defeated them in order to unite them. After he built up strength by attacking his friends, then he came after the Romans and defeated them. If he'd done it otherwise, then he'd have failed.

Republicans ARE what they believe. Democrats tell you what to believe and then run the other way.

The people who vote Democratic may or may not be evil, who knows? But the vast majority of the corrupt Democrats who hold office and who promote the un-American socialist agenda and the wholesale slaughter of inncoent life most definitely are evil. You cannot label government sponsored murder of the unborn anything other than what it is. Evil.

i appreciate your opinion but have heard every point that you have made before and many, many more...i admit to not being smart enuf to have the solution...however, if we are rich enough to claim to be the richest...and rich enough to be the strongest militarily(expensive weapons)...and rich enough to pay corporate executives 10s of millions each and more in salaries and bonuses...and rich enough to fund the abuses of a wm. clinton and all the corporate criminals to name JUST a few...we are sure as hell rich enough to stop the dying of poor people in our beloved country who have been failed by our educational systems and are unable to afford both food, rent, and medical care even though they work full fame at AT LEAST ONE JOB afforded them by their lousy educations...and what about the innocent children who have NO chance at all because their parents are lazy, good for nothing, drug addicts...the children do NOT deserve to be sick and/or die...and we are lettin' that happen...this is almost as horrible an issue as the 45million children murdered by the democrats...it really is and the republicans as well as the democrats are ignoring it while their senators and house members and their families receive the BEST HEALTH CARE IN THE WORLD...i'll stop while i could go on with an almost unending list of reasons that the poor should have at least good health care...but i won't unless you fire back with some more stale, staid reasons that we shouldn't have satisfactory health care... maybe you and everyone that YOU love has great health care....excuse me...i can't say the same...if we conservatives can't provide for the babies born in our country, maybe we should be honest and help the democrats murder them...not really much difference in the two PARTIES when we look at it that way...is there...something has to be done about abortion, yes but something also has to be done about medical care or we are no better than the dems and are lousy hipocrits..
