A day after a closed-door strategy session on regenerating Kathleen Kennedy Townsend's struggling bid for governor, top Maryland Democrats insisted her slide could be reversed in time for a November victory.
Democratic officials said Townsend's voter-mobilization plan and advertising efforts are sound - despite nagging concerns about her campaign's management and what is seen as a lack of support from some party leaders such as Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley.

More and More, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is sounding like the Brian Wilson of politics, surrounded by an army of Eugene Landy type facilatators.
I sure hope C-SPAN broadcasts KKT's debate with Bob Ehrlich next Thursday. Even more I hope KKT doesn't come up with a lame excuse not to debate.

I read the story on Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. It is the most amazing story I have ever read. They want the other democrats to get out there and elect her.
I would say she is toast. I don't think the meeting was about electing her. It was about what kind of jam or jelly should be used after mayor Mayor Martin O'Malley gets thru spreading the margerine.

They want the other democrats to get out there and elect her. Especially Barbara Mikulski. Mikulski looks like an angry bulldog who appears to be perpetually working up a wad of spit to launch at those who disagree with her.

Oh boy. You shouldn't post stuff this good for free- unscrupulous folks (I'm not saying I'm necessarily one of 'em) might steal it for next Tuesday's Maureen Dowd column or somethin', you know. You should be more careful.

The big difference between Brian Wilson and KKT is that the former has/had a lot of talent. All the latter has is the Kennedy name.

Of course, but the image you evoked of the "Brian Wilson-like" incapacitated candidate being led by career Kennedy/ Landy-type "facilitators" is dead-bang-on with Ms.Townshend, sadly. She couldn't run a dogpound to save her life, but this is the best this family can do in 2002, evidently. She needs professional "facilitators" to answer even the most basic questions from voters in Maryland. Pathetic. After all the druggies, alkies & rapists were disqualified, she was this clan's last best hope? Holy cow!

Townsend did not want to debate until after the general election with Erlich.

Especially Barbara Mikulski. Mikulski looks like an angry bulldog who appears to be perpetually working up a wad of spit to launch at those who disagree with her. After the big meeting this week in Washington, DC (not in Maryland where Maryland taxpaying businesses could have made a buck) I believe that it was Steny Hoyer who, in criticizing O'Malley, called Mikulski a "fireplug". Could a Republican get away with that?
BTW, I hear that Mikulski's staff keeps dogs away from her.

Townsend Fires New Strategist For 'Nazi' Remark Yes, but the oh, so clever Washington Post let him repeat every one of his stupid remarks without any of the rebuttal they're famous for dishing on Republicans. Apparently the Post agrees with Albert Wynn that it's unfortunate that Henson has been fired by the Democrats, and won't be able to provide colorful lies and quotes leading up to the election.
