Here's a question: if you saw the video, and it was of your babysitter doing the same thing in the video, with your child, what would be your first reaction?
Outstanding Point! First reaction , Get a rope.

heads-up - in a few minutes, press conference coming up on foxnews... on big john's show.

Good Point about Tex's perspective on this, perhaps he did only see the kinder gentler version. I saw the entire vid on fox news website. It was a pummeling. If Tex only saw the tame version, I'm sorry tex. If you saw the entire video, and maintain your stance, You need some dark sunglasses , a cane, and a seeing eye german shepard..becuase you my friend are blind. I have a daughter at home, 16 months old...this made me sick.

Q: What's the definition of a conservative? A: A liberal who's been assaulted.
Yes, I know. That's a very old definition. I heard it back in the 1970s. I assume everyone's heard it many times by now.
The definition I offered of a liberal ...
Q: What's the definition of a liberal?
A: A conservative who's been arrested.
... is a takeoff of the above definition of a conservative. I first heard it in the 1980s, but I assume it's still less widespread. And it's just as true.

This woman did not "lose it". She looked carefully around the parking lot before she started her attack. She stopped the beating two times...and then resumed. She was totally in control, methinks.
To: Naspino
How very very Liberal of you. Hope a surgeon will be able to restore your sight.
To: SerpentDove
The truth is enough. I don't see the need to exaggerate.
I doubt seriously any lasting physical harm resulted. That doesn't mean the child should be left with this mother, and that Gorman shouldn't be sought out, and criminally prosecuted for abusing her daughter.
And ANY pretext that could be used the get the poor girl out of the Traveler's is good enough for me.

subjected to "interviews" with child psychologists who'd plant tales of physical and sexual abuse in the kids minds, and then use their own reports to get a court to keep the kids in foster care, and send the parents to mandatory therapy where they'd have to "stop being in denial" and confess to all sorts of things they never did, in order to get their kids back. OK already! I am not gonna say that NEVER happens, but that kind of fearmongering distorts the truth.
Are you telling me the tens of thousands of case workers in this country all do nothing but yank kids and feed them stories of suppressed sexual abuse? Are their any children left in real families? - Or is it just the weird ones that make the news?
I don't justify the wrongdoings of CPS, but feeding that kind of paranoia is exactly what leads people to views so twisted that they would look at this video and wonder whether "the right thing to do" is to call the cops.
In our effort to be hawkish about the misuse of CPS power, lets please not get so twisted that we can witness an assault on a child and worry about parents' rights being threatened.
To: glock rocks
True.
To: Conservobabe
True enough... but she has "lost" something to behave that way. And my statement was referring back to the "witnessing abuse next-door" scenario that was being discussed, as an aside to this woman.

I've only seen the CBS feed.

On my PC not the TV..btw

I promise you, if you call the police or FBI and report that your neighbor is suspicous because reads the Koran, they'll be polite to you, hang up the phone, and do nothing more about it but possibly get a chuckle out of the lunatic who just called. I promise you, that's not how it works.
Paranoid snitches look for trouble. First they look for a sign: a Koran, an NRA sticker, whatever ticks them off.
Of course, they don't report it yet. They know the FBI would laugh them off. Instead, once they see your NRA sticker, they hone in on you. They watch for more "signs." Shouting, a rifle, late-night guests.
Then they exagerate what they've seen. A rifle becomes "carrying in all manner of assualt rifles and military weaponry at all hours." A Koran becomes "extremist anti-American Islamist propaganda ... I'm sure I heard them say 9/13..."
You see how it works?
Then they report their exagerated delusions, and you can sort if out from behind bars.

Sarcasm On!! Tell you what. Since I'm bigger and stronger than you I give you a similar beating; of course you'll have no need to worry since according to you such a beating wouldn't leave any "lasting physical injury or harm."
So how about it. I'm available any time to administer a similar beating. Sarcasm OFF!!!!

Wow, I agree..I just don't see the child being hit
I see the woman beating around the child seat, then I see the girl getting into the seat
It looks to me like the woman is beating something other then the child. Also, the two look quite harmonious prior to entering the car.

Your relative is lucky she was a medical doctor. Cops tread carefully with white professionals who can afford good lawyers.
Had your relative been "white trash," and God forbid, a "white trash" male with tatoos and beer-breath, he'd of been arrested regardless of his innocence.
And if he turned out to be innocent, the cops would have invented some "probable cause" excuse or minor offense to justify the arrest, if only to counter any potential lawsuits.
"Conservatives" had better learn to temper their "tough on crime" knee-jerks with some respect for civil liberties. The innocents arrested could be a FReeper.

Then the problem is the jackass who lies and he is on the line for the consequences. You will never, ever, ever be able to control people who lie. The authorities will always have to check out any tip that seems credible. They are not equipped with magical powers of being able to know, without checking, what is a lie and what isn't. Just a little common sense is all that is required to understand that. I sense some real paranoia, but not of terrorism scares, but rather of law enforcement.

Tex,
I just saw the end of the video on MSNBC. First, I saw the shortened version on FOX, and it ended with the mother openhanded smacking her child. But, the ending on MSNBC did show her delivering a few closed-fist punches in the direction of her daughter's head. I see what you mean about the feet kicking happily, though; that looked strange to me, too. Also, the woman didn't show any emotion at all... So, I see how this "alleged" beating might just look worse than it is. At least, I hope it's not as bad as it looks. I'd like to see the little girl to make sure she's OK.
