Apocalyptic hysteria is a fashionable malady among American fundamentalists, since it offers a convenient rationalization for personal and culture mediocrity. (rather like Sigmund Freud's early patients who translated "hysterical paralysis" into a free ride!) If we look beyond our own noses, however, there are powerful grounds for hope. I strongly recommend this article to anyone who prefers an encouraging word over the seductions of defeatism.

You may be right. It might benefit Chritians in the near term to adopt a new militancy and to forcebily convert first our nation and then the world, BUT . . .
I question first whether that is consistent with Christ's teachings, and second whether it would be at all availing in the light of prophecy (which BTW is quite valid and will come to pass no matter how unattractive we as individuals may find its particulars).
Better IMHO to couch the coming struggle in terms of our National interest and enlist the support of all Americans of good will be they Christians, or not.

For these very reasons, Orthodox Christianity has taken off like mad in Africa and many parts of Asia and is starting to make deep roots in S. America, while the Orthodox nations are starting to turn around the population decline....we will bury the enemy fanatics...but would rather convert them.

Read, bump, and disseminate this good news. The future is as bright as the promises of God!

Well, it is amazing that third world countries are more inclined to the gospel than we are in the west. But it must be a part of G-d's plan, or it wouldn'nt be happening, right?

The full article talks a lot about Pentecostals, which seem to be unmentioned in the exerpt.
It says there are more Catholics in the world than there are Moslems.
And that India and China have more Christians than are generally admitted to by the authorities.
And that there is danger of sectarian strife between conservative Catholics and Pentecostals in South America, but less so in the rest of the Southern Hemisphere.
America, in this account, maintains its Christianity in no small part via Hispanic immigration of Catholics and Pentecostals.
