What if they decided that certain art pieces were not clean enough for them...is it OK to go and change them?

With art pieces, it might be okay to make a copy and change that copy so it is different than the original. Haven't some artists already done that?

I agree with you. These DVDs are not art per se, they are duplicates of the original, packaged for mass sale. While the original film should not be tampered with, these sanitized versions that satisfy a wide range of consumer tastes seems like a win-win proposition to me. The royality check would quickly silence even the most sanctimonious directors. Regards.
