Clinton, Lewinsky, others seek almost $8 million in legal fees
Wednesday September 18, 2002
(Washington-AP) -- Former President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton have been joined by Monica Lewinsky, Vernon Jordan and others in seeking taxpayer reimbursement for their legal bills.
The New York Post reports that the bills could total up to seven-point-eight (M) million dollars.
Twenty-seven people involved in Clinton-related investigations have sought reimbursement of their legal expenses. The independent counsel law permits such reimbursement as long as the probe did not result in the applicant's indictment.
The newly unsealed filings reveal that ex-intern Lewinsky wants one-point-two (M) million dollars. Jordan has applied for 303-thousand dollars. Both were caught up in independent counsel Kenneth Starr's perjury investigation against President Clinton.
The Clintons said last month they were seeking taxpayer reimbursement for legal bills stemming from the Whitewater investigation. A disclosure form filed by Senator Clinton listed outstanding legal bills for the couple of between one-point-seventy five (M) million and six-point-five (M) million dollars.

"it's not like they raised millions in legal defense donations"They use that for the nonreimburseable fees under the statute. Then they ask us for the rest. What they don't get, they stiff their lawyers. They are professional grifters...

What legal fees? Haven't they left a lot of lawyers high and dry, regarding the payment of their fees?
To: Sub-Driver
They'll get it. You mark my words. P.S. Bill Clinton is a RAPIST.

If they agree to unseal all evidence the entertainment value alone should well exceed the $'s they're seeking. On the other hand there would be a lot of turned stomachs that would have to be factored into the equation.

I think that sums it up, I think I should changed the title to "Hold onto Your Wallets" Clinton, Lewinsky, others seek almost $8 million in legal fees

The attorneys should learn the same lesson as all of the other Clinton's "friends". The money and power flow in one direction, like a black hole that sucks up all light. We the taxpayers should not pay a dime to the attorney firms that pillage our country with exorbitant fees and specious nonsense, or to the that rapist and his tramp. They were working pro bona (no pun inserted) on this one.

The article states that they are entitled to reimbursement if they are not
indicted.
What is an impeachment, if it is not an indictment?

If Bush's DoJ had jumped on the Clintons like a duck on a couple of junebugs, do you think they would have the gal to be asking this right now? The Clintons are going to keep up with one thing after the other now that they know they have the protection of the president for their crimes. This is partly Bush's fault for letting the Clintons slide.

Just a question that jump up in the old gray matter...........Did Billy Dale request and/or recieve tax payer funds to pay off his attorney fees? The man was done wrong big time, and I despise Slick, but the way I see it, if Clinton and cronies can have this privalige why not Billy Dale and those other guys that got fired unjustly from the WH travel office?

These people are a bunch of scum bags. I can't believe they want reinbursement. Well, I think the American people deserve an apology for everything he did, especially making a mockery of the presidency. For 8 years I did not respect the office and had lost hope in our political system. Thank goodness for W. he is restoring my faith.
