I need some FreeperAid

Posted on 09/18/2002 7:03:45 AM PDT by The Shootist

Exactly the crap I would expect from a jingoist. The "foreign aid" your government doles out with TAXPAYER money is nothing but a bribe so that narconazis can pour poisons on the crops and drinking water of Columbian villagers. It gaurantees that South Americans SLAVE labourers will make pennies to hand sew Liz Claiborne jackets that retail for nearly $200 at a department store here in America. It gaurantees that Nike and GAP can use Indonesian children to make clothes and shoes that are so expensive they will never be able to afford them if they worked their entire lives. I know these companies claim they dont use child labour but they outsource their work to factories that fall outside their own jurisdiction. Bribes to the corrupt local governments grease the wheels. The amount paid in foreign aid is MEASLY compared to the disgusting wealth of the richest Americans. This elite will make TRILLIONS from the UNOCAL Afghan oil pipeline the Iraqi oil fields. Removing dictators has nothing to do with it. If Saddam is so bad, then why did Bush I give him plenty of weapons of mass destruction during the Iran war? If Osama is so bad then why did Bush I call him and his soviet fighting Afgans "freedom fighters" in the 80s. Why was Osama Bin Laden known to the CIA as a business suit wearing man named Tim Ossman during the 80s! These guys are nothing but mercenaries. The Afghans and Al-Quada have nothing to lose. America has everything to gain.

If the U.S. really wanted to help people, then why is powdered milk stored in warehouses by the ton and left to expire. Isn't it possible to export this milk to Africa, Asia, or even ghetto kids? This is done only to keep prices stable on milk. This is your divine free enterprise system at work. What about the new slave labour prison empire. Reagan's War on Drugs turned the prison system into the American slave labour camps. Prisoners are outsourced as workers to companies and used to build goods, answer phones, and other menial tasks. The prison system makes a profit on money that is not spent on prisoners, the care people recieve while incarcerated is therefore substandard because obviously a corporation will cut profits. Private prison contracters recieve $145,000 for every inmate incarcerated, in one-time profit. In fact the whole situation is a form of class warfare. The CIA uses the South American Contras and drugs to make easy cash. The cocaine is then exported into black communities. The Republican government turns the national economy into a toilet. The people in minorities suffer while the rich use the down times to manipulate the system. The poor then turn to drug economies to imititate the lavish lifestyles on TV. Then they are imprisoned and made into slave labourers. The prison system is the largest growing labour pool in the nation. It's so deviant yet so simple. It even robs the incarcerated citizen of his democratic rights. You being in the same Anti-Drug War position should be able to see through the veiled evil of the drug war. Look at the hypocrisy Noelle Bush and George W. Bush run around happy and free but poor mexican joe gets a club to his head. I am angry and have sour grapes because the evils of globalism and the drug war and not confined to US borders but a poison that is sprayed worldwide.

The US are the most avicarious wasters of natural resources on the planet. How is it fair that 3% of the world's population can use 25% of it's resources and cause 33% of it's pollution. BTW- those evil nazis you speak of are still in power. Nearly all of the most despicable Nazi scientists (including those who tortured jewish babies) and spies became U.S. citizens after the war and were never prosecuted. This is known as operation "Paper Clip". Prescott Bush was one of the industrialists who helped arm and finance Hitler. I see a pattern here. Arm an enemy, but not too much, then go to war for economic profit. You speak about "socialist canada" like it's detrimental thing. Exactly the crap a solipstic American would believe. Nearly every other developed country is a liberal socialist democracy. The only other country I can recall at the moment that is run by a ruling elite of fundametalist authoritarians is Afghanistan.

Most people in the developed world rightly realize that a balance of capitalism and socialism is highly beneficial. I have lived in the Britain, Australia, and I was born in Singapore. My mom's family is Goan which is a portugeuse part of India. My uncle was a dissenter in Singapore during the 80s and he wrote a book that was critical of the ruling "People's Action Party" a highly facist right wing group that holds fixed elections every year. He was dragged from his bed away from his terrified wife in the night by machine gun wielding jack boots. He was then taken to a secret installation where he was stripped naked and tied to a chair in a meat freezer for several hours. They proceeded to interrogate him. I think he left out the most horrible details when retelling the story. Needless to say he stopped publishing on his book. I also witnessed a man being beaten by police in the street for distributing pro-democracy newsletters. I am not allowed to return since I violated the terms of my compulsory military training. I had been living in other countries most of my life. I was supposed to return for 2 years of right wing indoctrination. I refused and exile is the punishment. My only heartbreak it that I probably will never see my beloved grandmother again.

We who have sacrificed for freedom tend to cherise it more than those who use it as a advertisment to sell flags. I am not being physically forced from this country. DEA raids on my beloved medicinal cannabis community in california and the IMPERIALIST war in the middle east have soured my grapes. I am not "an illegal immigrant" I came here on a student visa with nearly a million dollars in assetts. I was hoping to use the money to start a life in San Francisco and possibly use if for such noble causes as a medicinal garden. The Supreme court nominated Bush has pissed on this hope. Indeed America would be a paradise if people stopped letting their thoughts be controlled by the corporate owned media and started searching for facts. I don't like being lumped with people who swam here to work minimum wage. Indeed you are just being a racist asshole by insinuating that all immigrants must be poor. I also empathize with the illegals as they only come here so they can send the money back to their families. They know that five dollars and hour is a good wage and they know little about politricks. I could easily "could have made it" under free enterprise. I am educated and and my family has a knack for business.

Sorry about the poor formatting. The piece above was written without paragraphs or other formatting. I have parsed it, poorly.

This is the response I received from a fellow on another board. He said he was an Immigrant to the US and was ranting about how "bad" it was here and how "evil" America is. He said in his original post that he had been "chased out of his home by fascist death squads" and is now being forced to leave the US "by the Bush II regime" and that he was moving to Canada. I wished him bon voyage.

This is his response. I would like to respond to him in an intelligent manner but, as we all know, responding to outright LIES is bloody difficult.

Can some of you help me out here? Thanks

He's been taking a little too much medicine. Don't waste your time or energy on this pot head. He's a lost cause.

"So then I made some whine!"

Why bother with anything more than "Buh-bye!" as a response?

I'm sorry ... I tried and tried, but the only thing that I could come up with was the old time-tested ...

"Don't let the gate hit you in the a$$ on your way out."

However, I am pinging some FReepers far superior to me in debating skills.

"Hate speech! Hate speech!" The fool that wrote the nearly incoherent sputterings against America needs to live in a Moslem country like Saudi Arabia for a while ... he would return to the U.S. minus a right hand and right foot, at the very least! The rhetoric is akin to dimocrat campaign methodology though, so I would suspect this writer is more a shill than a shrill.

(1)He forgot China and Cuba, among a host of other countries.

(2)Afghanistan is a developed country?

Tell em to quit. If we are evil and our money bad tell them to do without. He who has the title SuperPower makes the rules, and if you don't like it - well too bad.

If he truly wanted things to change he would put that money and education into getting elected and making a difference. He just wants to whine and run, typical of some people. In America you can make things change, you just have to get off your lazy a$$ and do it.

The last time I checked, those 25% of natural resources we were using up, also went to feeding, aiding, fueling and protecting SIXTY percent of the world, so he can blow that 25% figure out his ass.

There is no such thing as a socialist democracy. You cant have one along with the other, they are like oil and water. In a Democracy, one has CHOICES.

This country DEFEATED Hitler, while the Canadians were clubbing baby seals, so where the losers went matters little. Wish him Bon Voyage for me, will ya?

I will never see a million dollars in my lifetime and since he has it, why doesn't he share his wealth? Most Americans are, of course, middle class, who give until it hurts. As for the very rich, I hope they give more instead of getting on television telling us to donate. Perhaps the sheiks could divvy up a few bucks for their fellowmen instead of playing on the French Riviera? Much of the money and food we do send stops at the top of the ladder. Arms are bought to bite us back for having the money to donate in the first place. The poorest of the poor don't even realize we are giving their government money to help them. Their leaders are the ones who should be held accountable but people like this guy is hellbent on blaming the US for everything. If he hates us so much, why is he angry about having to leave? Good riddance to bad rubbage!

He's mad because he found out that you can't legally grow pot here? Surely he could have saved himself the disappointment by calling the US consulate before traveling...

The US are the most avicarious wasters of natural resources on the planet. How is it fair that 3% of the world's population can use 25% of it's resources and cause 33% of it's pollution.

This old canard. It's fair, dope, because we use 25% of the world's resources in order to produce 25% of the world's wealth. That's not waste, that's making the world a better place.

I could easily "could have made it" under free enterprise. I am educated and and my family has a knack for business.

Overeducated and underworked. "Having a knack for business" sounds to me like his family fronted him a big bag of pot seed...

Here is my personal Favorite:

It gaurantees that Nike and GAP can use Indonesian children to make clothes and shoes that are so expensive they will never be able to afford them if they worked their entire lives.

Is there anyone out there interested in a $90,000 a year job making $500,000 Rolls Royces? How about a $220,000 a year job making personal Jets? According to the "logic" < /loosely used term> above, you'll never be able to afford them, so it's wrong for you to make your lives better by making them for others.

By the way, people get paid the most where the production is highest. The offshore companies with Indonesian manufacturing usually pay about 5 times what the local industries pay. While the number varies in other countries, global manufacturers almost always pay more in emerging market economies, than the local industries do.

Improved Technology = improved productivity = higher pay for workers.

Hmmmm... his free enterprise idea was a medicinal garden. He wasn't planning on planting echinachea, elderberry and goldenseal root, was he?

Instead of trying to lobby and change the drug laws, he's running away and taking some parting shots at the US. He's bought into to wrongheaded notion that the world's problems are our fault. I doubt you can convince him otherwise.
