House Condemns Rebirthing Therapy

WASHINGTON –– The House voted Tuesday to condemn a therapeutic technique known as rebirthing as dangerous and harmful and urged every state to enact laws banning it.

"I encourage all states to outlaw this voodoo science and prevent another tragedy from happening," said Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., author of the non-binding resolution that passed 397-0.

They are right in this case and Im ussually against the government doing nearly anything however no ban is neccasary this is child abuse and probably a few other crimes the authorities merely need to start enforcing it as such.

Rebirthing is used for other things. Are all applications banned?

I once attended a lecture by Leonard Orr, who developed rebirthing. You cannot imagine a less therapeutic presence. He looked as menacing as Atilla the Hun. Anyone who volunteers for rebirthing -- and many adults do -- had to be a total masochist. The poor kids subjected to this junk by their parents and sleazy rebirthers have no choice and no chance. As I recall, anyone can become a rebirther after a couple of weekends of "training."
