Cosby to deliver UNC-CH commencement address Sep 16 11:09 - AP - AP Wire Service

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) _ Comedian Bill Cosby will deliver the spring commencement address at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, scheduled for May 18.

``Although he is perhaps best known for his humor and innovations as a performer and actor, Mr. Cosby also has earned well-deserved recognition and national prominence as an educator and humanitarian,'' Chancellor James Moeser said. ``His longtime personal interest in and support of education is noteworthy, and his message will be one of inspiration for our graduates as well as for their families.''

Cosby, a Temple University graduate, went back to school long after he achieved professional success to obtain a master's degree and a doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts.

Doctorate in Education
Only slightly tougher to earn than a GED. What is it Walter Williams calls the Education Department? --the academic ghetto of any university?

And the self-same jerkwad fraud who, many years back, allegedly picked up a doctoral degree from some ivy league petri dish [Brown, I think it was] but of course without having had to amass the necessary credits, write and defend the thesis, you know, all that grubby stuff that ordinary, unannointed, little people have to do.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Bill Cosby: OK, politically, we don't agree with him.

But he's amiable enough. And he'll be humorous and thought-provoking. I'm not sure I catch the need for alarm in this thread.

Look, at my college graduation Mother Theresa spoke. I'm not Catholic. I'm not sure I agree with everything she said. But it was interesting and thought-provoking.

I'm sure Bill Cosby will be the same: civilized, entertaining, and thought-provoking. Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.

I really haven't been exposed to any of his left wing views, and will take the members of free republic words on it, but his show was pro-life (abortion was never mentioned on it, or even brought up, even though he was a gynocologist), he is pro second amendment, and on his show, he showed signs of preaching against affirmative action (usually to his son). My guess now in retrospect, is that one of the writers to the show, probably had conservative leanings, not him.

Bill Cosby is a mixed bad and can not be specifically labeled other than comedian and philanderer. I believe he sometimes gets bad advice from his associates. When he talks to undergraduates of African decent, he presents a fairly ratonale point of view. Also, think back to when he was playing the role of Dr, Huxtable. He got all kinds of crap from the "Black Leadership" because he wasn't playing a minstrel fool. In stead, he was the married male head of an upper-class family, whose wife was a lawyer and children were coping with growing up. Sort of a "Father Knows Best" in a Philadelphia Row house. So I can not get too excited about this.

Just don't get me started on his wife Camile

What was it that Camille Cosby did or said? I am not questioning your truthfulness, I just don't remember exactly what she said or did.

Did it have something to do with the death of her son?

Yeah, I agree. It would be different if it were his wife. But Cosby's OK.
