BAGHDAD, 17 seven (AFP) - the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Aziz affirmed Tuesday that Iraq had withdrawn in the United States the pretext of a war, by accepting the return of the inspectors of UNO in disarmament.
"the pretext used to launch an aggression was completely put in failure", declared Mr. Aziz with the opening of an international conference of support for a lifting of the international embargo.
"They (Americans) thought that Iraq was not going to make such a courageous decision" to accept the return of the inspectors of UNO, it continued.
The Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, had announced Monday evening in New York that Iraq agreed to let the inspectors in disarmament UNO return it without condition in the country.
Mr. Aziz underlined on this subject that "aussitôt after the advertisement by Baghdad (in New York), the Blanche house made a point of rejecting Iraqi decision the ".
"They (Americans) were shocked by this courageous decision and started to speak about tactique.(..) We are serious and ready to assume (our responsibilities). We are completely been willing to cooperate with UNO ", said Mr. Aziz.
It affirmed that "all the weapons of massive destruction in Iraq were completely destroyed, even of the tools and of the buildings sheltering the equipment were destroyed" as opposed to what Washington claims.
According to him, the American president George W Bush "seeks, by pretexts, to make of Iraq new Afghanistan".
"the objective of the American policy (with regard to Iraq) aims at controlling oil in (the area of) Gulf", it underlined.
