I heard the story from the other side as one of the parents lives in Kansas City. They knew nothing about what was happening until FBI guys showed up at their door.
The guys had ID and could prove that they were MED students on their way to a hospital in Miami to do a rotation. The police were not willing to accept that and kept them prisoner for 17 hours until they checked and rechecked and couldn't find even the slightest face saving charge.
I think that we should have an established rate for such false imprisonment-say $500/hour plus proven additional losses (like missed airline flights or missed work time). With the clock running like that, these episodes will end much sooner.
I'm so sorry they were terrorized. They sure as heck terrorized that lady in Georgia, not to mention the switched plates that led to a terrifying jolt to some people up north.
Yep. Just a prank. Fooled the dogs too. Oh well. Glad the investers were calmed down before Monday, I sincerely am.
1. Failure to stop and pay the highway toll. (Untrue)This morning when I went to church, I confessed my sin to God and asked for forgiveness. On Friday, I condemned other people on flimsy evidence, and I also wished them evil.2. Driving with stolen license plates. (Untrue)
3. Detection of explosive residues on their car. (Untrue).
I feel put on by the media and the cop(s) who leaked premature information.
