LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man who threatened to blow up a Chevron refinery unless he was paid a disability settlement was sentenced Friday to nearly four years in prison.
Ronald Denton, 39, of Torrance, was given a 46-month term by a federal judge for interfering with interstate commerce by extortion and threatening to use a weapon of mass destruction.

He had an assualt rifle, hmmm? Well, in Cali and especially LA, an assualt rifle could be just a Ruger mini-10 .22. It's magazine fed and can accept a clip holding more than ten rounds, after all.

Contrast this with the treatment accorded the middle-eastern guys in Florida making "jokes" about terrorism on 9/13

He spent the last two years on paid disability after complaining of stress following a missed promotion he felt he deserved, according to the U.S. attorney's office. Oh puh-leze.

CHEVRON EMPLOYEE ARRESTED ON FEDERAL CHARGES OF THREATENING TO BOMB OIL COMPANY REFINERY (DoJ Press Release) During the execution of a search warrant this morning, FBI agents found an SKS assault rifle, a magazine with a 50-round capacity, and approximately 1,000 rounds of .30-caliber ammunition, at least some of which was full-metal jacketed. Investigators also found books that described how to convert an SKS rifle to fully automatic, how to manufacture C-4 explosives, and how to remain a fugitive.
The results of the search were revealed in court this morning by Assistant United States Attorney David Fields.

"During sessions with a psychotherapist, Denton said he would bomb the refinery and kill employees unless he was paid $3 million for a disability claim, authorities said."Nice to see patient/client privelege is still respected.</ sarcasm>

Not to make light of the situation, but isn't "an assault rifle" a Barbie Doll BB Gun painted pink(o) in California? Guess we'll have to go to Berkeley for the definition of "an assault rifle." (sarcastic grin)

Nice to see patient/client privelege is still respected.</ sarcasm> No, doctor/patient relationship does not apply to criminal behavior or threats. In fact, a phychotherapist has an obligation to report a patient if the Dr. suspects the person might be violent or dangerous
For that matter, in criminal cases attorney/client privelege only applies to what the attorney is defending a client for.
