This was a stupid ad on the part of the Repubs. It was, however, funny to hear the NAACP and DNC criticize race baiting.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

"We did not know it was going to be run and never intended it to be run."

Maybe they should just shut up before they dig themselves a deeper hole!

Sounds like a great ad. Social Security rips, on average, $100,000 from a blackman to give to a white woman.

NAACP Chairman Julian Bond said, "To believe that broadcasting these falsehoods in such a racially colored way aimed at African American voters, obviously thinking they'd buy it hook, line and sinker, is insulting."

Please let us know Mr. Bond, what is false?????

"..on average, $100,000 from a blackman to give to a white woman.."

Is this something that can be substantiated...in print?

Deroy Murdock of the African-American leadership network Project 21 has explained why the current Social Security system is unfair to blacks: "The National Center for Health Statistics reports that black males born in 1992 can expect to live to age 65, while white males born that same year can plan to live 73.9 years. While black females born in 1992 can expect to 73.9 years of life, white females are expected to spend 79.8 years on Earth."

In other words, African-Americans live long enough to pay into Social Security, but, on average, not long enough to benefit from the system either at all, or, if they do benefit, at the same rate as white Americans.

Adds Murdock: "Since older retirees collect more benefits... Social Security essentially transfers money from working black men and women (who die earlier) to older white women who live the longest. This quickly raises a fundamental question: Given that the retirement age will increase to 67 by the year 2027, is it fair to expect young black men to support a scheme that will not provide them with pension benefits until two years after they can expect to die?"

Social Security experts William W. Beach and Gareth G. Davis of Washington's Heritage Foundation agree with Murdock's analysis. They say: "A low-income African-American male age 38 or younger is likely to pay more into Social Security than he can ever expect to receive in benefits after inflation and taxes. Staying in the current system will likely cost him $160,000 in lifetime income. Today's Social Security system threatens the ability of too many minorities to realize the American Dream."

Ask and ye shall receive....thanks.

"..is it fair to expect young black men to support a scheme that will not provide them with pension benefits until two years after they can expect to die?"......"Today's Social Security system threatens the ability of too many minorities to realize the American Dream."

And a remedy to this injustice would be...what?

Elimination of the SS Trust Fund?

Or for starters, create some form of property right so unused portions, i.e. what you did not collect because you died, could be passed on legally to an heir.

By many accounts, because black men tend to smoke and eat a lot of fatty foods, Social Security is a tax on culture imposed by the health Nazis...

This was a stupid ad on the part of the Repubs.

No, it wasn't. That ad was brilliant. It told the absolute truth.

They should NOT have pulled it. This is the message that American blacks need to hear from the Right.

Elimination of the SS Trust Fund?

The "trust" fund doesn't exist, so how could it be eliminated?

How can ANYONE say the word "trust" and social security in the same sentence?

Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, called the ad "reprehensible race baiting."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this comment. Other than Carville and Clinton, I can't think of anyone who is so utterly devoid of truthfulness or integrity than McAuliffe. Okay, and Jesse Jackson. Other than Carville, Clinton and Jackson ... okay, add Daschle.

Exactly. They should have said, 'Screw, refute it, If you can...'

I agree wholeheartedly. Playing our own race card is infinitely better than folding. For Black Americans and for all Americans, we need to accuse the left of the outright racism they practice. Are we supposed to wait for the media to say it?

Does anybody on this thread really think the Left will run less race war political advertising because we withdrew this ad?

The problem with the ad is that it is un-Republican. I didn't think we made arguments like "whites are cheating blacks" or "rich are exploiting poor," etc. The real pointis that lots of lower income PEOPLE of all races end up putting in more than they ever see back. Because there are more white people, and more poor white people I believe, making this a white vs. black issue is wrong. But of course the dems do this every day.

Okay, so let me get this straight:

An ad that tells a FACTUAL tale about how blacks don't receive SS benefits nearly on a par with whites is "stupid." Even though it is absolutely true.

However, this silly argument about Reparations, which is based on NOTHING but a childish, tantrum-like outburst on the part of a few black "leaders" who have had no contact with reality since second grade...that's worthy of serious consideration.

What am I missing here?

(Except that Republicans wimp out, every **** time).

But of course the dems do this every day.

that's right, and the voters have become so dumbed down that acting on principle is a losing cause.

If they are willing to kick to the nuts, then we must, and first, until THEY LEARN BETTER........

Our Ideas, and Positions, at face value, are better, and right, therefore, if we are demagogued then we must, now, demagogue back, but at least with the truth.

Getting rid of SS, and allowing people to make their own retirement funding decisions...the proceeds of which they can leave to their heirs.
