No way. You want them hemming and hawing until the last minute. If they come on board early, even forced to come on board, it will be of minimal meaning come election day (aside from the few extreme libs that stay at home pissed off).

Is there really an "election cycle" any more? It's pretty much constant, thanks in part to Clinton.

Absolutely not. Get these pompous windbags on the record before the election. Otherwise, the issue will recede in significance and each of the RAT senators will successfully change the subject. If they avoid a vote, they can be all things to all people through the election cycle and keep all different RAT constituencies on the reservation.

Get these pompous windbags on the record before the election.

The people will have to force their legislators to go on the record. I agree, if we can get this thing taken care of immediately, the momentum will remain on our side. But if Daschle and company can forestall the vote, they'll try to take the momentum back.

I would wager that lil' Tommy is the primary obstacle now.

"Rush is on a 2-hr tape-delay in Dallas..."

It's worth checking out just to hear how on top of things Cheney obviously is, but there's no real breaking news in what the Veep had to say.

Did Cheney really say that President Bush would force Congress to stay until they get the Homeland Security bill "right"? I didn't see any other freepers say that and I just want to make sure. If this is true, I love it!

"Did Cheney really say that President Bush would force Congress to stay until they get the Homeland Security bill "right"?"

He said that Homeland Security was not something that we could afford to wait on until the next Congress convenes in January/February, and that Dubyuh would VETO any legislation that hasn't given the POTUS the flexibility that he has been requesting, and if there was a VETO, Dubyuh would apply the necessary pressure to keep Congress in session to pass an acceptable bill.

Is that how y'all heard it, frmrda and antivenom?!

I taped it, too, in case there's a question of EXACTLY what Cheney said.

Great points. But like Rush said, I suspect they will all fall into place and support him. Hell, if Biden and Edwards are already saying go get em, it can't be long before the Tom and Dick Show cave too. They seem to forget they are representing the citizens of their own STATES, not their own ideas on how the world should be.

Once Dasshole sees all the REAL men (gag) in the Democrat party step up to the plate in the name of national security...he will hand the election "mission" off to Terry McAuliffie and "play" sin-a-turd (I mean Senator) again...

I understood it as VETOING the bill until he gets it right...I can not swear it was stated he would keep them through a reccess to get it...but hey...I am wrong half the time (thank goodness I am right the other half....whheeewww)...

Well, my taping the show just became a moot point...Rush just said he's already posted the transcript of the Cheney interview on "Rush Limbaugh's website."

"Rush: One other thing before you go here, how would you rate the chances of homeland security legislation passing with the flexibility that the president says he needs to make it effect itch?

Cheney: I think that's the only way it can pass. The president has made it clear if they send him a bill that doesn't allow him the same kind of flexibility that he thinks he needs and that other presidents have had, that he'll veto the bill. And if he does that, then I think Congress will have no choice but to take the bill back, clean it up, create the authority he needs and then send it back to him, at which point he'd be prepared to sign it. Buff he's been very clear. I've heard him on a number of occasions tell members of Congress of both parties, "Don't send me a bill that limits my flexibility in this area of homeland security." and he means exactly what he says.

Rush: About 30 seconds. Do you seriously expect a - an authorization or another resolution from Congress before the election?

Cheney: I expect, Rush, they'll take the matter up, that they will put themselves well in the debate and that Congress will pass, as I say, I think by a significant margin, in both houses whatever authorization the president believes he needs."

While listening to Cheney I was thinking that Cheney, Rumsfeld, O'Neil, Evans, would have made me proud to have them as my President.

I cannot think of a single democrat who would compare in any way to the honor of these men.

In time, I believe Condi Rice would join the above list of people who would make a fine leader of this great country.

Turds like Daschle, Lieberman, Leahy, Kennedy... will vote against it.

The ones that are really gonna run in 2004, Gore, Kerry, Edwards, Biden and yes... HRC, will vote for it.

Take it to the bank! ;^?

Wrong, Johnny. Kerry has already indicated his opposition. Daschle will likely vote yes, so will Lieberman. HRC has to be careful because of the sizable Jewish constituency in NY, who will demand she vote yes.
