I saw the title and figured this article would be about my ex-wife.
Silly me.

I thought those were named after volcanoes.

I know, but when I was in...
at Earle New Jersey, Nitro had a sister ship Suribachi, which is good for your thought...
but there was also the Butte!!
Bad for the volcano thing.

You have free passage...
that makes one bird that can soar in a no-fly zone!!
Just don't choke your parrot!

Thank you so very much, Nitro!!! Hugs! It sounds a lot like the kind of thing my brother did for some 29 years.

'Twas a lonely site to see - Those AE's swingin' on the hook in Subic. Quarantined beyond Cubi Pt. and Grande Island - as far from the piers as possible while actually still in the bay.
Must have take their liberty launches an hour to make the trip from ship to shore.
Salute to the men of the AE's.

I never made it that far...
but I can tell you about GTMO...
it was a 20 mike ride and I could carve Mt. Rushmore from the salt I had to scrape off my face...
of course we wore garbage bags on the way in!!
On the way back, who knew???

Tonk,
You may be one of the few who know...

they vaporize!!!

Thanks for the ping, Nitro. I liked the poem very much. So, is that what you did in the Navy? I hope you'll be featured soon at the USO Canteen for FReeper Friday! Thank you for serving our country. Jen

So, is that what you did in the Navy?Yes, it was, in addition to being a RADAR Specialist.
I hope you'll be featured soon at the USO Canteen for FReeper Friday!
Ironically enough, Snow asked me once to do that and I was reluctant, I have one photo that looks OK, but it is in a Cruise Book and I don't have a scanner to imput it!

Five inch thirty eight fire ring. The fifty fours don't do that. All the thirty eights are gone except for those still on the battleships. What can were you on? Had to have been one of the FRAM destroyers.
