Bettis has a "heavy heart" because of assault accusation

Steelers running back Jerome Bettis, who is being investigated in a sexual assault case, made a brief statement to reporters as he arrived for practice this morning at the team's South Side headquarters.
"Unfortunately, due to the situation, I can't speak about the issues at hand. But I do want to let everyone know, the people of Pittsburgh know, that today I have a heavy heart because of the situation. It's been a very difficult time for me."
A 22-year-old Westmoreland County woman accused Bettis of attacking her in his sports utility vehicle Aug. 21 after they met in a Greensburg tavern. The woman filed a report with Greensburg police, who questioned Bettis last night. No charges have been filed.
"I'm going to do as best I can to fully cooperate and do everything I can do to aid in this situation so that we can see the situation through," Bettis said today. "I'm doing everything that I can possibly do to make sure that happens."
Steelers Communications Coordinator Ron Wahl said neither team President Dan Rooney nor vice president and general counsel Art Rooney II would comment on the case. Wahl issued a statement on behalf of the team:
"Jerome Bettis has earned an impeccable reputation as a member of our community. We believe him when he says he did not engage in the alleged conduct."
KC's Tip O' the Day - "Always leave your helmet on".
Since they aren't smart enough to keep em' on we're gonna nail them to their skulls.
On another note we nearly had to beat some of our "fellow" Browns fans when they threw a couple beer cups at the KC guys in front of us.
These guys came in wearing KC jerseys and took all the good natured ribbing very well. They were politely supportive of the Chiefs throughout the game and even kept quiet at the very end. Even so some drunk slobs from about 6 rows back threw empty cups (2) at them after the end of the game.
I doubt they expected as many guys to turn around and tell them to knock it off or be beaten as did. There had to be 20 of us. The two guys apologized very quickly and literally ran to get out of the stadium before we took out our angst at losing on them.
The guys from KC thought it was pretty funny. One of them said "That's something I haven't seen before." and one of the guys around us said "and something you wouldn't have seen if you were a Ravens fan and we'd just lost to the Ravens like that". It was a good laugh.
We knew our defense was bad, but we really haad no idea we were THAT bad. It takes a serious lack of talent to let a rookie QB look like Dan Marino around 85' with Duper and Clayton.
The Griefs better enjoy that win because they are not going to get many breaks like that.
Our D however is putrid. I went from thinking we'd be 10-6 this year to thinking we'll be lucky to be 6-10.
