September 14th The Real 911 anniversary.
Self | Self

Well, it was about a year ago when a similiar thing happened, and it was huge. Here is a copy of an email that is going around. Just interested in everyones thoughts:

Last year right after the September 11 attacks. The citizens of the United States used the Internet to unite everyone in our grief and outrage at the most cowardly attack ever perpetrated on America.

On September 14th, people from all over the United States (and even Canada) took part in a nation wide candle lighting to symbolize our unity in face of adversity. I personally have never been prouder of my fellow citizens than I was on that day. In fact, it even took all of the News agencies like CNN, FoxNews, NBC, ABC, by surprise that such a grassroots ceremony could even happen.

By the power of email, people all over the nation scrambled to notify everyone in their address book that at 7:00pm (no timezone specified), to quote "step out your door, stop your car, or step out of your establishment and light a candle".

As the anniversary of September 11th is upon us, shouldn't we again remember that day and light our candles on Saturday, Sept 14, to honor our fallen countrymen(women) and also honor our men and women overseas, defending freedom and our way of life?

Please pass this to everyone in your address book:

7pm, Saturday Sept. 14. Stop what your doing. Step outside. Light a candle and show your support for the greatest country that has ever graced the face of the earth!

Here is a transcript of the original message sent to citizens all over the country a couple days after Sept 11:

"Friday Night at 7:00 p.m. (time zone not specified) step out your door, stop your car, or step out of your establishment and light a candle. We will show the world that Americans and Canadians are strong and united together against terrorism. Please pass this to everyone on your e-mail list. We need to reach everyone across the United States quickly.

Thank you."

Thanks again everyone! Hope to see you the 14th!

Sorry, I am not the kind of guy who lights his Bic at concerts, and I am not the kind who goes in for community grief.

I was well shaken for days after the attack, and I cried my tears at that time.

I am well over it, though. My focus is on getting the monkeys who planned it, and killing them dead. And pushing the guys who paid for it out of power.

Kabul is done, except for the shouting and rebuilding.

Baghdad and Ryadh are next. And make no mistake; Ryadh will not survive the occupation of Iraq unchanged.

This, according to my crystal ball.

So, I suppose I should feel bad that I have no recollection of any such "nation wide candle lighting."

On September 14th, I have been invited to give the keynote address at 'A Rally for Enduring Freedom: Defending the Heart and Soul of America' event at the State Fairgrounds in Lewisburg, WV.

So you can imagine why the headline here caught my attention.

Never forget!

I remember it too. I remember that big candlelight vigil down in Union Square last September 14, where the pacifist pukes rearranged all the candles into a giant peace symbol, sang "Imagine" while holding hands, and got the 21st-century antiwar movement off to a rousing start. They haven't f***ing shut up since.

They ruined the meaning of candle-lighting for me, so I'll be kicking over any that I find outside of a church.

I remember it well.

Fair enough. But, anyone who'd stoop so low as to say "September 14th [is] The Real 911 anniversary" -- well, that's just too damned outrageous for words.

I remember it well and it was all over my neighborhood. In fact, I had forgotten all about it until I saw this post.

As for the eyores and curmudegons peeing on your leg, eff 'em. If they wanna leave all the good powerful symbols to the left, that's their dysfunction. And I'm FOR nuking Mecca so no one should lay any pacifist crapola on me.

Your title is insulting and offensive. Surely what happened on 9/11 was more "real" than your commemoration.

Yeah, I forgot about it too, until I was looking through my email that I saved from that time period so as to reflect on what we were all feeling at the time. I remember everyone on our street out there with candles and cars honking as they went by. It was very inpirational.

It has been a while since I posted here, it is interesting to see how many libs have invaded FR.. oh well..

Lets not leave out Yemin as a target. :)
