CHOOSE VICTORY BY DECLARING WAR
Day One of Choose Victory Week

http://defenseofamerica.org/victory/day1

In the words of Patrick Henry, "Gentlemen may cry, 'Peace, Peace'--but there is no peace. The war is actually begun!" As in 1775, America is at war for its freedom, and it is time for Congress to declare this war.

A declaration of war is the only act that can *commit* us to our fight over the long term. A declaration would clearly define our enemies, and warn every nation and individual that to help our enemies is to wage war against America.

At the birth of our nation, Patrick Henry's forceful and courageous words stirred a reluctant and irresolute assembly of the Second Virginia Convention to action, and so helped win our nation's freedom.

Your words can do the same. An outcry from the American public will move our nation's leaders to *declare war*.

Find more on declaring war and a step-by-step guide to taking action (including government and media contacts and sample letters) on the Choose Victory Week website:

BUMP! We are going to have to take out Saddam sooner or later so why not sooner. Of course the Dimocrats and RINOs don't want this as they want a "debate".

I agree completely.

Our cowardly Congress should have done this 9/12/01.

The historical analogy from the War of Independence is exactly right. Even after the Intolerable Acts and even after Bunker Hill, the Continental Congress continued to send petitions to the British Monarch petitioning him for redress of grievance. Although there were those who aimed at independence from the first (notably Sam Adams, the man, not the beer), many still believed in the supremacy of Parliament and indissolubility of British ties. A country was even formed on these premises: it is called Canada.

We should not expect unanimity or certainty in moments of crisis. Freedom is always a gamble, and things only seem clear at Frontierland, 200 years after the fact. The War of Independence was never a sure thing: it came replete with Benedict Arnolds and Valley Forge. And in the end, it was George Washington's rejection of kingship that made it all worthwhile. We could lose this war, if only because we lack the resolution to risk it all do the right thing.

And triumph we must
if our cause remain just
and our motto still be
that in God is our Trust.
Then the Star Spangled Banner
forever shall wave
O'er the land of the free
and the home of the brave
