Someone set a small fire Thursday evening to a recently vacated Frayser house whose owner shot and killed an intruder there one week ago today, police said.

The incident at 2814 Northmeade was being investigated by authorities Saturday morning, hours before the intruder, Otis Lee Yarbrough, 19, was buried.

Homicide Lt. Joe Scott said the fire appeared to have been set Thursday evening and that the Memphis Fire Department arson squad was investigating.

Arson squad investigators could not be reached by The Commercial Appeal Saturday for comment.

It is the second incident of its kind since the homeowner, Donnie Weathers, shot Yarbrough after Yarbrough and another unknown intruder broke into his house.

Two days after the shooting, someone fired three shots into the house as Weathers and his family slept inside.

The next day, Weathers and his family hired armed private security guards to protect them as they moved from their home of 35 years.

Looks like the dead perps gang buddies came back to finish what they started.

Same thing happened to a gun shop owner in Texas a couple of years ago. He shot and killed two armed robbers,and their "homies" started riding by and shooting at him through the window. They even waited for him to leave the store one night,and shot at him from across the street as he was locking the door. He shot and wounded another one when this happened. Finally,he had another shoot-out when three of them came inside his store to shoot him up close,and I THINK he managed to kill all three of these guys. Being gang-bangers,they were not only lousy shohts ,but were not used to having people who would shoot back. Anyhow,I saw a photo of him standing in his store with some reloading presses trashed from gunfire,saying he had no choice but to close his store and move away.

What SHOULD have been done is for him to have gotten a few of his buddies,and done a combat assault on the gang-bangers. Let THEM see what it's like to deal with some people jumping right out of cars and coming at them while shooting AR-15's,Mini-14's,and shotguns. I'm thinking you wouldn't have to kill more than 15 or 20 of them before the word got out and they started making theirselves scarce. Unfortunately,anybody who does that will go to jail for murder. This is why the bad guys keep winning.

The entire article is not here, but it appears that we have a classic case of racial identification by ommission. If the home owner were black and the dead bandit white, the media would be screaming that this was a racially motivated hate crime. The absence of any such information leads me to believe that the home owner is white. The race of the dead robber and his fire-starting buddy could either be black or white. However, in view of the media's proven efforts to never speak ill of the black, my view is that the absence of an indicater that the robber or friend was white, by default, means they are/were, black.

Will someone check to determine if my condemnation of the media's racial intollerence is based on accurate inferences drawn from the information they allowed us to see?
