[history]
Last week's Georgia primary victory by newcomer Denise Majette over Cynthia McKinney looks more promising by the day. Expected to win her solidly Democratic district outside of Atlanta in the fall, she told Black Entertainment Television on Sunday that she voted for conservative Alan Keyes in a 2000 primary.

Let's hope that Ms. Majette and Mr. Davis are the future....Let's hope they stand by their statements too.

I hope that this is a sign of good things to come. To be honest, I've seen that hope shattered numerous elections in the face of vicious race-baiting by the NACCP and others that has no place in this country or in our political discourse.

These comments are as encouraging as the victory itself. To whom?
Have we forgotten that Majette has a (D) beside her name?
A demo is a demo is a demo.
They do not change their stripes unless they experience an epiphany that litterally knocks them from the clutches of the liberal democrats. Majette did not unseat Jihad Cindy, the crossover Republican vote combined with the dems that simply had had enough of Jihad Cindy's idiocy unseated her.
To credit or assign any credit to Majette and then hope that she will espouse the conservative cause in any way, shape or form is simply a mistake.

I believe what the writer finds encouraging is the failure of race baiting, which has been a solid staple of democRAT campaigns.

Well, maybe so. But Jihad Cindy is now out, and since Majette voted for AK and is supported by that conservative demo most freepers like I find it encouraging.
Don't forget, there are still some demos that say "I didn't leave the Party, the Party left me".
I generally vote Repub all the way but if there was a good candidate no matter what the party that spoke to my issues, I'd vote for them. (ie, if my beef were immigration or abortion, I would cross party lines and vote for that candidate).
Best regards,
g.

I think 9-11 changed alot of things that haven't even hit the radar screen as yet.
