This Quorn stuff sounds like what they put in Arbys sandwiches. Once upon a time, Arbys had REAL Roast Beef (RB) in their sandwiches and they were TERRIFIC. Then one day one of their cost accountants got the "bright" idea of adding some sort of meat substitute in the sandwiches as a cost saver. The result is some sort of chemical compound that looks a bit like roast beef but doesn't taste like it at all.

The last couple sandwiches I had there were kinda... spongy ?
That's not as bad as the other two problems that made stop going there:
1) Rookie meat slicers who cut the meat(?) too thick.
2) The dreaded chunk of gristle. If it's in one slice of meat(?) on your sandwich, it's usually in a bunch of them.

Arybs "roast beef" is real beef, but it's been pulverized and glued back together. This in the name of having a "consistent" product. I'm pretty sure the ingredients are all "natural", but you're right. It doesn't taste or feel like roast beef.
