Group wants parental notification on homosexual mentors [gays in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters]

Washington, DC (CNS News.com)--A pro-family group is calling on Congress to require that public schools that sponsor Big Brother, Big Sister programs notify parents if a proposed mentor is homosexual.

The Big Brother, Big Sister program recently implemented a policy that bans discrimination against open homosexuals who want to serve as volunteers and mentors to children at 500 affiliates nationwide.

In his letter to Congress, Eugene Delgaudio, executive director of Public Advocate of U.S., warned that under the new policy, parents, "will not be told of the adult's sexual preference," a policy that he said "puts children at risk."

"Action must be taken to protect these Little Brothers and Little Sisters," Delgaudio wrote.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) instituted the policy change July 1, to forbid the exclusion of any mentor on the basis of "race, age, color, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, veteran status, or disability."

"What it says is that you cannot be excluded for consideration as an employee or a volunteer or a mentor if you belong to a certain number of groups ... because of religion, race, any number of categories," Noreen Shanfelter, spokesman for BBBSA, told CNSNews.com.

However, because the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program serves "essentially as an agent" to the nation's public schools, according to Delgaudio, the BBBSA should adhere to a different hiring policy.

No agency of a government-sponsored public school should knowingly hand over minor children under 18 to adult homosexuals as a matter of policy," Delgaudio wrote.

"It is a tragedy that a group that has provided worthy programs for children is recklessly abandoning the well-being of children to satisfy the radical homosexual lobby," he added.

"As Americans, we condemn NAMBLA (the North American Man-Boy Love Association) and those that have invaded the Catholic Church for their own sexual agenda, because they victimize innocent children. It is time that we protect the rights of Little Brothers and Little Sisters like we have protected the rights of Boy Scouts," Delgaudio concluded.

We've posted a great deal of information, supported by research done by licensed mental health professionals and published in respected, peer-reviewed scientific journals, indicating homosexuals are disproportionately dysfunctional in several ways.

The interesting thing about Big Brothers/Big Sisters is that they would never allow an adult man to mentor a girl, for the obvious, common-sense reason that the risk of child molesting is too great. Allowing a homosexual man to mentor a boy, however, is OK with them.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America long has pledged to help, not hurt, children entrusted to its mentorship. Yet now the 98-year-old organization is forcing local affiliates to accept openly homosexual men and women as mentors.

With years of allegations and sexual-abuse cases starting to surface, disaster and disgrace loom. Your help is needed to protect America's impressionable youth who yearn for guidance from a same-sex parent missing from their lives.

As a former homosexual, I am leading this National Campaign in conjunction with many Christian and pro-family organizations to encourage Big Brothers Big Sisters of America to reverse their dangerous policy of allowing openly homosexual men and women to serve as one-on-one mentors to America's children.

The 98-year-old youth organization, devoted to helping children from single-parent homes, has just enforced its hazardous nondiscrimination policy of homosexuality on all of its 490 local affiliates, against the wills of several of its chapters -- causing concern among Americans all across the country. The Big Brothers Big Sisters national headquarters needs to be flooded with petitions calling for a change of heart.

Over the years, numerous children have been sexually abused due to Big Brothers Big Sisters nondiscrimination policy of placing them with openly homosexual men and women. One of the highest profile cases of the Big Brother Big Sister's scandal is that of Tim Brown -- a sexual offender on the run - featured on the national television show 'America's Most Wanted' in April of 2001. Brown, a 'Big Brother' and 34 year old homosexual pedophile, sexually molested his 'Little Brother' -- a 10-year-old boy the organization placed with him.

In 1999, Brown became a volunteer mentor in the Salt Lake City Chapter of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. Even though Big Brothers Big Sisters was well aware of Brown's prior criminal record, the organization still allowed him and gave him access to work with a boy in need of a positive, male role model. But Salt Lake County Sheriff's detectives say Brown betrayed the trust placed in him and used his status as a Big Brother to sexually abuse the little boy he was matched with. Brown was captured due to the television show in May of 2001.

Numerous other cases of homosexual abuse exist all around the country. Yet organization president Judy Vredenburgh has said, "We're absolutely brilliant in screening out any inappropriate person. Our track records of protecting the child on the one hand, and positively influencing them on the other -- we're really proud of it."

Big Brothers Big Sisters says it has less than 10 abuse allegations per year in a program that currently matches 220,000 children with mentors.

We say one is too many.

Tell president Judy Vredenburgh and the national office of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America -- please protect America's children. Please reconsider your decision enforcing homosexual one-on-one mentorships.
