Red Flag Warning/Fire Weather Watch Information ZZZ000-291358-FNUS56 KMFR 281355 FWFMFR
FIRE WEATHER FORECAST FIRE WEATHER OFFICE MEDFORD, OR FORECASTER: WOLF 700 AM PDT WED AUG 28 2002
A RED FLAG WARNING CONTINUES THIS MORNING FOR GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY ACROSS THE RIDGES OF FIRE WEATHER ZONES 618, 619 AND 620...
DISCUSSION...A THERMAL TROUGH ALONG THE SOUTHERN OREGON COAST WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES OVER THE RIDGES OF EXTREME SOUTHWEST OREGON THIS MORNING.
THIS AFTERNOON THE THERMAL TROUGH WILL WEAKEN AND SHIFT INLAND BRINGING AN END TO RED FLAG WARNING CONDITIONS OVER THE SISKIYOU NATIONAL FOREST. ON THURSDAY AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL APPROACH FROM OFFSHORE AND THE THERMAL TROUGH WILL BE WELL INLAND. THIS WILL ALLOW COOLER MORE MOIST MARINE AIR TO SPREAD INLAND WEST OF THE CASCADES...ESPECIALLY NEAR THE COAST.
EAST OF THE CASCADES...UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE OVER IDAHO WILL BACK INTO SOUTHEAST OREGON TODAY PRODUCING WEAK INSTABILITY FOR A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS OVER LAKE COUNTY (FIRE WEATHER ZONE 625). ON THURSDAY THE INSTABILITY EXPANDS WEST INTO THE CASCADES AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE APPROACHES. THIS WILL PRODUCE A BETTER CHANCE OF AFTERNOON AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS. THE THREAT WILL LINGER OVER THE WEEKEND.

Hopefully this will not cause a lot problems in the Biscuit Fire area. This is fairly normal pattern that can happen between now and the first rains in late October or early November.
This is a mixed bag of bad news, good news and again bad news re the possible evening thunderstorms. Thunderstorms bring lightening which started most of these fires since July.

Thanks for the ping and the weather site.
The USFS site for the Biscuit Fire has not been posting that link.

Agnes posted this question:

September and even the first part of October can be dry months in SW and central Oregon.
So the tinder box build up the past decade in all of the forests in Oregon, make all those forests very vulnerable to fires caused by nature or by man.

A hen laying an egg without a male/rooster.
That could put a lot of roosters out of work if the ag guys can figure out how to do that with the hens who lay the eggs we eat.

Good question. They are still backburning in the Kalmiopsis and it is a little smokey today.

Hopefully, they will hold off on the back burning until later today or tomorrow when the wind warning goes away.

I'm not a tv watcher, but my neighbor who gets all her news from the tv remarked to me that it hasn't been a bad fire year for Oregon! When I told her the acreage on fire or burnt, she nearly fainted. Had no idea.
I guess the media just isn't getting the seriousness of this out to people. This woman considers herself fairly well informed.
To: WaterDragon
The left controlled media in Oregon knows how serious these fires have been to about half of Oregon's population.
That is why they have spiked the news about the fires, minimized the news or played down the seriousness.
A year ago in Portland, about 6 people, all Freepers, knew about the attempted Rural Cleansing of the Klamath Basin farmers and ranchers for a sucker fish. No one even knew about the protests by our people and the large numbers.
All the average Portland sheeple knew was that greedy farmers and ranchers in the Klamath Basin were killing innocent fish by wasting vast amounts of water for irrigation. Of course none of these little green weenies realized that if not for the farmers and ranchers raising food which used irrigation, they would not be able to buy the food they and their family needed each day to stay alive.
