My comment in blue. The gall of the Palestinians after being caught like this is amazing. The BBC is trying to put a positive pro-Pali spin on this, but in the end, they can't. Well done to our Israeli allies.

Thanks for the post. Maybe I've missed it, but haven't heard this reported here and it's significant!

They always lie. They always kill Americans and Israelis and Christians and Jews.
That must be why the UN, EU, and US State Dept. love them so much.

Thanks for the post. Maybe I've missed it, but haven't heard this reported here and it's significant! Well it is relatively fresh - perhaps Fox News will have it shortly.

Terrorist Arafat, murder of Americans, gets support from his enablers
from the UN who also support piracy, slavery, and banquets near sites of famine.

I have a bit more personal emnity towards the Palestinians than most Britons, as my mother was in the New York area on September 11th. And not long after the attack, I switched on the telly and found:
Had she been hurt or killed, these bastards would have been dancing on her grave. And they were dancing on the graves of those who were killed in the WTC attack. I felt we should find every last person who dared to celebrate this and kill them as a symbol to the Arab world that this will not be tolerated.
Aside from that, my sympathy for the Palestinians is below absolute zero. I would not care if Israel did finally lose their temper and booted the lot.

Here's a thought - what if the Palis got the guns from Iraq?

I have to admit, I wonder how Ariel Sharon keeps his patience with Arafat.

I have to admit, I wonder how Ariel Sharon keeps his patience with Arafat. Agreed. I would have had the Mossad poison his drink and have him die in bed with a prostitute long ago.

Ivan, I skimmed the article repetitively. Help me out here. Is it true that this article says the IDF actually found some barrels in the water?!?! And that when firing on them, that one of these barrels purportedly blew up...just like , say, an empty fuel barrel might blow up on my by 30 acres??
My goodness, they DID catch the palis with barrels, didn't they? Otherwise they might have described their contents.

The article also points out that barrels like these are used by the Palestinians to store weapons. I doubt it blowing up was coincidental under these circumstances.

Control yourself - they'll have to open them first, which may not be just a question of flipping off the lids since they may also be booby-trapped.

Yes I will control myself. But we must keep this one logged, eh? It sure doesn't pass the fish-smell test. If there were weapons in them barrels, they'd be included in the doggone article.
I guarantee if you come out to my ranch and hit an 'empty' 55 gallon gasoline bbl with a 357 mag, that it'll make a big-ol' powee, and it doesn't mean it was a Yassir smuggling barrel! That's all I'm saying.
If I was the writer of the story, and I was skeptical about the claims, I'd hedge it in EXACTLY the same manner. In other words, if the writer was convinced of the facts, he'd write in the facts...like enumerating the weapons actually found, etc.

Besides, you've got to cut me some slack this morning. I woke up to the radio with a girly from Sierra Club on there explaining that all of Texas' energy needs could be provided by covering only 1% of the land with windmills...(the interviewer said "wow, that's all" even though if they'd care to do the math that's over 2,750 SQUARE MILES or like 1,760,000 acres ) and that's if you accept the 1% number (it's not true either.)
And that kinda non-crtical acceptance of statements by people that just go-along-to-get-along bugs the hell outta me. So pardon me for being critical this morning. Somebody has to. And I'll be watching this story with you and Ivan.

"The radio said barrels have been used before to point out sunken arms caches." The barrels were used as markers for the 'goods' that were underwater.

I wish more Brits and Americans thought like you Ivan, because it seems that the number of Neville Chamberlain's are increasing with every day. In fact, FR is now filled with these Anti-war weenies who are beneath contempt. Due to the state of the World and the situation we currently find ourselves in, I detest every damn one of them.

If they're "markers" then was was the IDF shooting at them and "blowing them up?"
One article says the bbls have been used before to float in arms. You say they're buoys. NOBODY has any captured weapons to show.
The least they could've done is plant some weapons!

Israel has called off high-level talks with Palestinians aimed at implementing a plan for an Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian areas of the West Bank and Gaza.
The meeting between Israeli Defence Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer and Palestinian Interior Minster Abdel Razak Yehiyeh was cancelled following fresh violence in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli Defence Ministry said.
Hours before the two were due to meet, Israel deployed land, sea and air forces to foil what it said was a Palestinian attempt to smuggle arms into Gaza by sea, while the army said a Palestinian mortar hit a Jewish home in southern Gaza.
Who was it that said the Palestinians "Never miss an opportunity too miss an opportunity."

How much more evidence do people need? For many, all the evidence in the world wouldn't matter.
