[history]
I was a preacher's kid, so Sundays were church, no doubt about that. The church was the center of our lives. In segregated black Birmingham of the late 1950s and early 1960s, the church was not just a place of worship. It was the place where families gathered; it was the social center of the community, too.

"Help me to walk in Your way, not my own." To try to walk in a way that is actually trying to fulfill a plan and recognize you are a cog in a larger universe. A more important prayer could not be uttered, nor a greater perspective on how we fit into the Sovereign will of God.
I love Condi!
Thanks for the ping, Miss Marple!

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving Condi Rice the opportunity to serve you in her National Security role in the Bush administration. We ask You to continue Your good work in her and to provide her with a wellspring of wisdom as she works with foreign governments. Help her to save time for You each day and to be a mighty witness for You. Help her to trust in You for all things. Thank You, Father, for all You are doing in her life. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Wonder if that wojld be a Reformed Presbyterian Church she is going to? Not if she's played piano for them! You know that the RPCNA is A Capella.

There are quite a few of us trying to reform the Reformed Church! Really? :-) And all this time I thought we were trying to reform you!

Thanks for the posting and the ping. It's really nice to read something of how someone thinks about what in the final analysis is most important rather than the ego trips in the little dust ups we see here from time to time.

I greatly appreciate, and so does the president, the prayers of the American people. You feel them. You know that they are there. If you just keep doing that, it is so important to all of us. There you go! They can feel us out here praying for them each and every day, and it's a powerful thing that we must keep doing on a daily basis. Condi is an excellent role model for young women everywhere.

Ah yes, but it was a Baptist church she was playing at.

gubamyster - great find, great post! Condi Rice for VP in 2004, and POTUS in 2008! Woooohoooooo!
Pokey78 and 24Karet, thanks for the pings... what an uplifting article, what's it doing in the Wash. Post? LOL.
To: Notforprophet
Oops - It's in the Times, not the Post. Man I hate making that mistake - not the first time.
To: ohioWfan
Thanks, ohio...I just sent this article to everyone in my family. It's a good one!

Condi is Wonderful. Heard her speak earlier this year at Texas A&M seminar. She is brilliant. She took questions from the audience and never missed a beat. Someone asked her about our shameful past re slavery and her answer was outstanding. Paraphrasing - she said that the USA hasn't been perfect in our history, but the great thing about our country is that we try to rectify our mistakes and learn from them. She was so eloquent. I love her. Thank God for her. She would be a great Pres or VP, IMHO
