2 Hurt in Blast at U.N. Afghan House

KABUL, Afghanistan -- A bomb exploded Sunday in a drainage ditch in front of a United Nations' guest house in the Afghan capital, injuring at least two Afghan civilians, a U.N. spokesman said.

The blast shattered the window of a pharmacy across the street and left a small crater in a sewage canal filled with garbage.

There was no damage to the U.N. International Committee Association guest house, which is home to 45 foreigners employed by the United Nations, said Mohammed Mirzar, the house's manager.

The later in the article it notes that a bomb making plant was found in a house formerly occupied by Wafa, a Saudi charity founded by OBL and determined by the U.S. to funnel money to his organization from wealthy Saudis. Further reference searches on Wafa show that it was not only a money conduit, but also chartered to drive western charities from muslim countries, namely in Pakistan and Afghanistan. This is significant as it seems Wafa affilialted residences had bomb making equipment in them and UN locations are being targeted as today's event demonstrates.

Abdullah al-Matrafi, director of the Wafa Charity, boarded a flight from Lahore for Jeddah via Dubai on Emirates airline. He never arrived at his destination. The Americans apparently detained Abdullah because Wafa was on the U.S. list of terrorist organizations. Abdullah's brother is now suing the United States for including Wafa on the list without evidence, and for "kidnapping" Abdullah. Note that this excerpt says Bin Laden founded Wafa, and further that it is closely tied in with Pakistani extremists groups. These groups have been tied to hits on Christians in Pakistan.

In Afghanistan, Al-Rashid closely coordinates its activities with an Arab NGO, Wafa Khairia, which plans to launch a bread-for-poor program in cooperation with Al-Rashid. Arab-Afghans - including bin Laden - founded Wafa Khairia in gratitude for being given Afghani hospitality, and it is largely funded by bin Laden, who himself has enjoyed hospitality in Afghanistan since renouncing his country of birth, Saudi Arabia, several years ago.

Al-Rashid is also closely linked with the Jaish-i-Mohammad, a Pakistan-based militant religious organization, which is now also on the US terrorist list. Al-Rashid and Jaish-i-Mohammad share office buildings across the country, although some are strictly for the use of the Jaish-i-Mohammad. The groups also have common cadres, who undertake fundraising activities for both organizations. Indeed, it is often difficult to distinguish between the two outfits. Maulana Masood Azhar of the Jaish-i-Mohammad regularly writes for the weekly newspaper of Al-Rashid, the Zarb-I-Momin. Al-Rashid will soon publish its own daily paper - Islam - out of Karachi.

Interesting that these Muslim "charities" aren't the least bit interested in really helping the people. They just want to make sure that the people are dependent upon THEM. Sounds exactly like a democrat tactic to me.
