RE: Chief's last thread. I remember reading that thread and being so proud of those men who were wanting to do more than they already were for our dear country. Seems the burden is carried on a few strong shoulders.
Chief made me feel so at home here at FR when I finally got the nerve to sign up and log in. There are few that can fill his shoes.
Again thanks COB1

This report is incomplete. As it stands, it is Bu11$h1t. My sentiments exactly.
Excellent post, HW!
Bump.

Well, I'm going to have to disagree with your assessment.
I think the door IS significant, and I think the fact that the door had never been mentioned before this report is significant.

Dumb idiotic police. I guess they consider this case closed since they've released their information? Like others, I am mad all over again. And I assume they will argue they've done the best they could do.
With people like this in charge, all in Houston are in real peril if they have any enemies!
Thanks, COB.

The information you are getting here is far from complete and virtually useless other than to stir the pot again. They used dogs to id petroleum distillates and tests to confirm their presence. The investigators from the insurance company have been involved from the beginning. You have to be very careful here because there is a lot of stuff that has not been addressed here and never will be.

The notion that he lit himnself on fire with lighter fluid is laughable. It was meant to be.

"Unsolved Mysteries" use to look into cases like this. Is there any television program that might be interested in presenting the case to the public? The people in charge might do a real investigation if the spotlight was on their investigation.

"OH PLEASE DON'T get me into this mess again!" Seems like I said those same words today when I started writing this thread!!

Houston is dripping with incompetence and lack of proper funding. The fire investigators have been cut back to the bone and then some. The investigators could not get access to the coroner and the coroner came up with erroneous information that is pathetic at best. The term "Houston we have a problem" just keeps coming to mind. :)

Thanks for posting this. I've been kind of wondering what was going on with this, but really didn't want to post anything about it. I'll read all the comments before I post any opinion.

WHY does that sound so ridiculous to you?I've already addressed that on this thread, but I'll do so again. If I was planning a murder by firebomb, I'd wait until the victim was asleep, especially since it's already late at night.
But, if I were incredibly impatient, the last thing I'd do is kick the door down (major noise), rush the interior door (don't know if it's locked), run past my intended victim, and chuck the petrol bomb in a different room altogether.
Why does that seem likely to you?
To: MistyCA
Misty, clue me in, please.
We have the autopsy report and the arson investigators report.
This IS the legal end of this.
All of this is public information.
What is it that we're not getting that we have to be careful about?

This looks like a report of an investigation that somebody didn't want to do. (the dog ate my homework)
To: COB1
Didn't the investigators tell Mrs.C and family that it was arson, and that accelerants were used?
And I thought they said the fire started on the wall between the dining room and den. The drawing seems to show it started on outside wall.
I remember that AlwaysWatching said the only electricty in the dining room was in the middle of the ceiling for the light. No other outlets.

"Why does that seem likely to you?" Because I know the mentality of the person whom I think did it.
In the first place when the autopsy report says he died of accidental smoke inhalation, it disregards the severe burns he sustained all over his body.
We don't know where Herb was when the fire bomb was thrown.
Look at that thread and you will see that Herb made his last post long before we all called it a night.
