[history]
Republican nominee Jim Talent enters the final, 10-week stretch of the U.S. Senate campaign in a stronger position than the incumbent, Sen. Jean Carnahan, D-Mo., a new poll of Missouri voters shows.
Of 801 likely voters polled statewide, 47.1 percent supported Talent, compared to 46 percent for Carnahan. The margin of error is 3.5 percentage points, which makes the matchup "too close to call," said pollster John Zogby.

Talent "has some momentum."
Yes!

"Senator Carnahan's husband and her son were killed in a plane accident, and my brother and dad were killed in a plane accident a few years before that," Hartzell said. "I feel like I have kind of a connection with her." While a very sad story, it hardly is a reason to support a candidate.
Missouri husbands, do NOT let your wives vote in November. Send them out of state. Let them be bitten by a mosquito carrying West Nile Virus. Anything to keep them from the polls.
The rest of the country will salute your efforts.

Talent's local lead is important because, elsewhere in the state, the two were virtually tied. That means that if the trend holds, the St. Louis region could determine which candidate wins in November.Looks like the polls will be open extra late again.

So...did Zogby poll Democrat dogs and dead? If not, this will really be a toss-up.
To: show me state
"What makes this particularly stunning is that we're capturing a Democratic-leaning mood in the rest of the country," Zogby said."
Where might that be John? All the polls I'm seeing of particular races show pub challengers doing quite well.

Not good. The numbers fail to account for the thousands of dead-suddenly-come-alive democrat voters in St.L. That must tip the scales to the tune of WHATEVER IS NEEDED to overcome any Republican lead. Also, polls in black areas of St.L will remain open until the election is decided in Carnivores favor.

I think not, because the DOJ worked out a deal with St. Louis and those folks know that if they mess around, there will be serious repercussions.

Let's hope that you are correct and that the consent agreement results in "observers" crawling all over the place on election day.

Where might that be John? All the polls I'm seeing of particular races show pub challengers doing quite well. Remember, John is a DemocRAT. He's thinking wishfully.
Even here in DemocRAT controlled Maryland, in the gubernatorial race, the voters don't seem to be "DemocRAT-leaning".
