American universities choose not to disclose their students' test results

Holding schools accountable for providing a quality education by setting standards and testing to see if they meet these standards is a major focus of U.S. educational reform. But most reform efforts target only the local public school systems, from kindergarten to high school. As the cost of an undergraduate degree skyrockets, parents ought to wonder what they and their children are getting in return for their tuition payments.

The author could have quoted Ludwig Von Mises who pointed out academics are characteristically ignorant and intolerant of a capitalistic society. They seemingly do not understand the "consumer is king." Consequently, they both envy and attempt to discount the success of ordinary business leaders. Ordinary business leaders have to provide value at a competitive price if they are to survive in a "consumer is king" society. Academics, thus far, do not.

Parents and society are too easily intimidated by academics when it comes to what they are delivering and whether it is worth it.
