Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend today defended the actions of the state crime office she heads, an agency under federal investigation for possible misuse of federal anti-crime money.
Townsend said her role in the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention, or GOCCP, was to set policy, not deal with the details of how or where the office distributed millions in federal money.

Townsend said her role in the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention, or GOCCP, was to set policy, not deal with the details of how or where the office distributed millions in federal money.
Translation: "Fiscal responsibility is not my problem."
A former GOCCP employee claims she was paid with federal money to aid Townsend's campaign for governor.
This is enough to sink the career of any politician except if they happen to be either a Clinton or a Kennedy.
"I believe they are giving grants according to guidelines," the lieutenant governor said.
A belief that is later contradicted by the following statement:
"I don't get involved at that level of detail," she said. "What I do is set the parameters."
So KKT says she has done nothing wrong even though she also admits that she can't know if she did anything wrong because she didn't know what the hell was going on. This is using incompetency as a defense. And the liberals look upon her as White House material?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Yeah, she is claiming that she is too high up in the ivory tower to know about the financial mismanagement of her crime program. I suggest that we dub KKT, "Her Incompetency."

So KKT says she has done nothing wrong even though she also admits that she can't know if she did anything wrong because she didn't know what the hell was going on.This woman is as dumb as dirt. But let's not say that often before the primary - I do want her to be Ehrlich's opponent! :-)

The lieutenant governor said she has asked Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran to review the use of federal money the crime office gave to the University of Maryland. When it comes to DemocRAT politicians, Curran is the greatest whitewash painter since Tom Sawyer.

But will KKT actually DEBATE Ehrlich? Somehow I think she will be looking for an excuse to back out of a debate.

KKT Uses Incompetency As A Defense Well, that's not hard to believe.
To: PJ-Comix
Yeah, she is claiming that she is too high up in the ivory tower to know about the financial mismanagement of her crime program. The Ken Lay defense?

Having KKT pass the ball to Curran, "the fixer" might be exactly what the U.S. Attorney,Dibiagio wants.
Charging Curran with "conspiracy to obstruct justice" in a federal investigation might just be "the icing on the cake" for Dibiagio,in nailing two birds with one stone, snaring both Curran & KKT at the same time would be like kneecapping the Maryland Democratic Party.

Oh, how I long to see that debate. "Dumb-as-dirt"Townsend against "smart-as-a-whip" Ehrlich would do my conservative Marylander heart good.
As my husband said during the Bush-Gore debates: "Bush is a leader, Gore is not" How true that was. The same thing holds true for Townsend. She couldn't lead a horse to water.

Well, at least we now know what KKT's campaign theme tune should be---"Dueling Banjos" from Deliverance.

But will KKT actually DEBATE Ehrlich? As I've said before, I'm not so sure that I want her to. I'm afraid that people will think of him as a bully, like what happened to Lazio in his debate with hillary.
A bright and dynamic guy debating a completely defenseless woman is not looked upon kindly in social terms.
And, no, I don't have a lot of respect for the average MD voter. We've had 8 years of spendenning, haven't we? And that was after we all knew that he stuck it to PG County before he left there.

When is the first debate scheduled? (Hopefully to be broadcast on C-SPAN.)

I see the Baltimore Sun is still on KKT's case. I wonder what's up with that.
To: PJ-Comix
Townsend is not competent to be governor. She also has said nothing about Glendenning's ethical lapses nor has she condemned the glendenning's slander of Saurbrey in the last election. But I think she is probably getting a bum rap here. Not that I'm complaining, because she has gotten a free pass on the other issues.

Further evidence of the true incompetence and lack of leadership of KKT. Thanks for the post!

Maybe the Baltimore Sun is on the skids and is desperate to publish any news that it can get or maybe they are going to cozy up to the Republicans in the event they win the elections they will have better access to them.
My guess is that they don't get much info from the U.S. Attorneys office in Baltimore anymore, so it is probably slim pickings for the reporters at the Sun.
I thought some time ago the Sun had laid off something like 140 employees.
