Rudy showing up should get him about an extra 2,000 or so votes. This race is going to be a blow out if the polls mean anything.

Thanks, monkeyshine. Why is this the first I'm hearing of this? And what's the cross-street?

The Democrats have trashed California, and people are tired of smelling their garbage. A common theme... from McKinney's district:
- "I was really annoyed by that letter to the Saudi prince. That did not represent me."
- "Just yelling and making any statement you want and thinking as long as you're black, people are going to vote for you, well, we're not that stupid," Turner said
- "The appeals by the Jesse Jacksons, the [Louis] Farrakhans and the [Joseph] Lowerys fell on deaf ears," said Leak, who is an African-American. "The typical black voter didn't want to hear that. . . . The typical political kingmakers didn't play a role in this."
- "But I would agree that it's not the same base that existed five or six years ago when she last had Democratic opposition."
The more reasonable Dems are starting to wake up. In times of economic crisis and war, most people want Republicans in office, and the liberal news-media has been doing yeoman's work keeping both of those stories at the top of the news. We need to get off our butts and at least TRY to take the biggest state in the union! The idiots are being removed by both Republicans and Democrats (McKinney, Trafficant, etc.) ... and few are as amazingly and publicly stupid as Grey "I saved the state from the energy crisis" Davis.

Do you have the latest registration figures in CA? Are they no longer registering by party under the new system? In TX, voters do NOT register by party. Party membership in TX is determined solely by the number of votes cast in primary elections every two years. If one does not participate in a primary, he is considered an unaffiliated voter though he may of couse be a partisan who did NOT vote in the primary of his choice. I understand that the Democrats led 3-2 in 2-1 margin with all the immigration? Davis is relying on normal Democrat allegiance as well as fear of Republicanism to carry him to victory.

I mean to write that the Democrats had a 3-2 registration edge even under Reagan. So I presume their margin is not at least 2-1, right?
To: Theodore R.
Correction again: I presume that the Democrat registration edge in CA is NOW at least 2-1, right?

This race is going to be a blow out if the polls mean anything. To which polls are you referring? The one recent Dem poll showing a 17-point Davis lead? Or the nine previous Dem, GOP and independent polls showing small Simon leads?

Though I don't know specifics, CA's demographics undoubtedly favor the Dems. Unfortunately Grayout is going to have a lot of trouble getting those folks to the polls. He is extremely unpopular. Should he win this election, it will only be because he succeeded in depressing Simon's turnout more than his. And if one judges by the number of shriekers and whiners on Free Republic (comment not directed at you), I'd say he's having at least some success at this strategy.
