>>>Remember in the OJ case, when the defense brought in that high-paid crackpot to cast doubt on DNA evidence.<<<
Is this Barry Scheck you are refering to? All this bug stuff was interesting but if you got all these so called experts that get up there and have different opinions on it talking about "unknown variables" that could "skew" things well...DNA, fingerprints, fibers all trump bug stuff.

"Last time I checked in the mob was talking about how Damon had killed all sorts of people in Florida as well as his daughter."...
I'm not surprised.

"I'm new to this thread, but you people who think Westerfield is innocent are serious aren't you?"
Maybe if you weren't "new to this thread" you would know some of the disturbing facts of this case, which have lead many of us to dispute the prosecution's theories. Why don't you educate yourself about the matter first before posting your opinion, since it is pretty much worthless if it is based only on feelings or what you've heard in the media.

Sorry, just givin' a little of the grief these folks have been putting out for MONTHS now, completely ignoring the fact of this child's horrible death.
Their defense of this monster has just been more nauseating than I can stand.

...some of the Westerfield supporters were so vitriolic it just didn't seem normal. Think about it: They were defending a monster in human flesh. They flippantly dismissed the torture and rape of children on the hours and HOURS of child pornography as trivial.
These are NOT normal people. Of COURSE their stupid antics aren't going to appear normal to NORMAL people.
I hope they all drop dead, frankly. I'd like to see 'em lined up for the needle behind Westerfield. I think they're all fellow travelers.

A couple of questions I'd love to know answers to:
1. Is this the FIRST death penalty case that Feldman has lost? If so, it must be a blow.
2. Any thoughts on whether the daughter decides to be a witness for life in prison for her father. Her silence has been extraordinary.

DNA, fingerprints, fibers all trump bug stuff. How so? You might be surprised if you were to study the subject. Lawyers know how to make everyhing seem fuzzy. If you are judging forensic entomology by what you saw going on in court in this one case, you are making a mistake. The entomologist from Hawaii was stretching things, big time, and ended up looking quite awkward and probably hurting himself professionally.

God, you're pathetic.... NOTHING defines "pathetic" like the cretins and reprobates who've been defending this child-rapist and murderer for months on FR.
Their stench pervades this entire site.

The ONLY thing you can say about we who believed he was guilty from day one is:
We were always right and you were ALWAYS wrong!

These are NOT normal people. Of COURSE their stupid antics aren't going to appear normal to NORMAL people. The party line for the "Westerfield Cult" now seems to be that EVERYONE was brainwashed by the jury. Everyone. Reality hasn't set in.
I suppose they are planning some bizarre "Save Dave" tactics now. But the rest of the United States is grateful that David Westerfield, child molestor is off the streets.

We were always right and you were ALWAYS wrong!
What's your best guess as to how it went down?
To: All
I believe the jurors should be given credit for a very difficult trial--116 or so witnesses, mountains of forensic evidence, etc. to go through and to tell you the truth, I would imagine no one wants the stigma of giving a death sentence in the state of California because of PC'ism, etc.
Westerfield was not called to testify on his own behalf, for one thing....that was a red flag to me....
any thoughts from others?
To: agrandis
>>>How so?<<<
Because you can take someones matter blood etc, and do a DNA profile that is virtually foolproof. Just like they do when a child's parentage is in doubt. You can take someone's fingerprints and compare them with those taken at a crime scene to see if you have a match. Hard evidence.
Bug stuff is a matter of opinion that can be "skewed" by many variables.
To: Greg Weston
I think it was a suicide. Danielle discovered her parents antics and decided to set up Westerfield before she took her own life, and then she placed her own body in the desert.

Westerfield was not called to testify on his own behalf, for one thing....that was a red flag to me.... That is the key to the Highway. When a murder victim's blood ends up on your clothes, you'd better tell the jury in your own words how you think that blood got there. The fact is that nobody gave an explanation as to how it ended up there. That alone is more than enough evidence to convict anyone. It is the DNA equivalent of being caught with a smoking gun.
I really can't believe all these IDIOTS who think this guy is innocent. If he was innocent he would have taken the stand.
To: IrishRainy
Have you mostly lurked? I don't remember seeing you post..
To: P-Marlowe
The fact is that nobody gave an explanation as to how it ended up there. That alone is more than enough evidence to convict anyone. The scarey thing is that we apparently now live in your world, where if you stop to help a child with a bleeding nose, and she later turns up missing, you can face the death penalty for your kindness.
I liked the Constitution so much better.
