GENEVA - U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will be in town next week focusing on the environment.

Local officials confirmed this morning that the junior senator will be making a stop in Geneva Thursday, Aug. 29. A time and location will be announced later. The event will be open to the public.

During the visit, Clinton will be discussing efforts to preserve the Finger Lakes.

Clinton, a Democrat, defeated Republican Rick Lazio in 2000 for the seat. The former first lady serves on the Senate's budget, environment and public works, and HELP (health, education, labor and pensions) committees.

Clinton represents New York in the Senate with fellow Democrat Chuck Schumer. Both are opposed to oil and gas drilling in the Finger Lakes Forest in Hector and recently announced Senate adoption of a bill that would ban drilling on the site. A companion bill is currently being reviewed in the Assembly.

Clinton is no stranger to the area.

She and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, were in Geneva last year over Labor Day weekend as part of their vacation. The two spent time with the family of Mark Gearan, the president of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Gearan served as director of the Peace Corps under the Clinton Administration.

The article does not mention that the Seneca County Legislature and the Town Boards in the Towns of Covert and Lodi (which border the Finger Lakes Forest) all voted to SUPPORT the drilling.

So much for constituent service.

A time and location will be announced later. The event will be open to the public.

By "public" they most likely mean "hand picked members of the local democrat party, together with leftie students from Geneva's Hobart and William Smith College."

No word on whether Slick Willie is coming but just to be on the same side does anyone know where I can download those "sexual predator" is coming fliers?

I had occasion to travel through northern NY last week. It was gorgeous. We made a quick stop at Niagara Falls - wish we had been able to spend a longer time there.

I can't tell you how many times I thought of what a shame it is that such a beautiful state is saddled with such a rotten sinator.

My son and his girl friend both just graduated from Hobart WS a couple of years ago. I coundn't resist sending this to them.

BTW they are both good conservatives inspite of their college education.

Mark Gerrin, formerly w/ the Clinton Admin as Head of the Peace Corp. is now the President of Hobart, if I am not mistaken. She must take refuge in these little hamlets.
She is also fond of Clinton NY-also a college town.

Thanks for feeling our pain. But thanks to those idiot NYC liberals, welfare recipients, and unionists we all suffer.

Laboring away on Labor Day, keeping up with the same old, same old, "we are working hard for the American people," in this case "The People of New York State," or how else can we screw you people!! Will they ever go away?
