Bits from a story back in Dec a little flashback if you may.
Who's the Grinch of the Stimulus Package?
Fourteen weeks after Sept. 11 and 48 hours before Congress goes home for the holidays, the last man standing between you and an economic stimulus package for Christmas is Tom Daschle.
snip:
A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Wednesday found that voters prefer the Republican approach (that would be tax cuts) to the economy over the Democrats' by a decent margin 44 percent to 35 percent. Which might worry Daschle, except for that those same voters are split right down the middle 47 percent say yes, 49 percent say no over whether the government should do anything about the economy at all. In fact, voters are even split 50-49 over whether the economy is even in serious trouble.
Not exactly a clarion call to compromise not when 76 percent say the economy will be fine in a year, and more economists than that agree with them. Sure, Wall Street could always use some extra stimulus, and stocks rallied on Bush's we-have-a-deal and sold off on Daschle's not-yet-you-don't. But between Tuesday's good news about the housing market and Wednesday's continued comeback of the index of Leading Economic Indicators, the backdrop of this week's climactic wrangle is less and less one of urgency. (Although Friday morning's University of Michigan consumer sentiment report for the first half of December could spin things the other way.)
snip:
Both sides still want a package, but if it means eating "philosophical" crow, it's almost as good to be seen wanting a stimulus package. Hence Bush's heavy media presence Wednesday he's dealing with some pretty heavy Bush I flashbacks, but again, he can top Dad just by looking like he tried. Hence Daschle's, who has to worry about hanging onto that Senate of his in 2002 and whether he'll get more long-term juice out of standing firm than playing nice. Hence all the frantic blaming, gaming and framing to which we were treated all through Thursday and Friday, the last two legislating days before Christmas.
Anything else, you'll have to wait till January

fast foreward to dashole and the senate who in 2002 vote no to help the economy and America. and what is on the voters mind that did not seem a problem back in dec. Yep
its the economy stupid.............
and we need tax cuts right now from The Government to start this country moving again. This is the issue this fall its all about the democrats and their hate for America as they voted against helping the economy when they had a chance. Now we all know which side they are on. Vote them all out of office all across America in November.
But the Grinch
who lived just north of Dakota
did not !
The Grinch hated Americans!
The whole Congress season!
Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
It could be that his head wasn't screwed on quite right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
He was mad at the world cause he wasen't to tall.
But, Whatever the reason,
His height or his shoes,
He stood on the Mount Rushmore, hating the Whos,
Staring down at his shoes with a sour, Grinchy frown
At the warm lighted windows below in their town.
For he knew every Who down in Who-ville beneath
Was busy now, planing to VOTE GOP !
There planing to dump me!" he snarled with a sneer.
"Tomorrows the election! It's practically here!"
Then he growled, with his grinch fingers nervously drumming,
"I MUST find a way to keep George Bush from coming!"
For, tomorrow, he knew...All the good girls and boys
Would wake up bright and early and leap past there toys.
They'd rush for the polls not a moment to soon
To drop DemocRATS like a bunch of baboons.
But, you know, that old Grinch was so smart and so slick
He thought up a lie, and he thought it up quick!
It's the economy stupid,He said with a grin
Keep breaking your backs, sending your money in.
Tax breaks, Can't have em
We just can't afford em
Blame President Bush
Hell I voted Gore in.
Then what he saw was a shocking surprise
The who's started laughing
They saw thru his disguise
Go back to your hole
you short little RAT
We love our country
Will have none of that.
And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?
Hey bub they ain't STUPID
The President said
All those lies ya ben telling
Dreamed up in your head
There no longer working
Your party is dead.
