National Media Spotlight on MD District 1
Timonium Major national news outlets like The National Journal, Congress Daily, Hotline, United Press International, Roll Call, Washington Times, and CNN are deluging the Fischer campaign headquarters with calls in hope of covering what looks likely to become the political upset story of this election cycle. As United Press International reported on Monday, Gilchrest may be in for the political fight of his life. A member of Congress since 1990, Gilchrest is one of the more reliably liberal members of the House Republican Conference.
Fischer was also mentioned on CNNs Inside Politics last night as a candidate to watch. Conservative columnist Robert Novak cited Fischers surge and the Club for Growth announced that they are throwing their support to the Fischer campaign. Novak told how the Club has won six straight primaries and how they are targeting the maverick Gilchrest in order to replace him with an anti-tax, pro-jobs conservative like Fischer.
As a further indication of how the Fischer campaign is surging toward Election Day, the Gilchrest campaign has been throwing a lot of mud hoping that something sticks. Mr. Gilchrest has unleashed more personal attacks this week, with more expected soon. Gilchrest has been sending out provocative statements to media outlets in a desperate attempt to stop the momentum of the Fischer campaign. We have no intention of slowing down, stated Fischer.

In Md. as well as in other areas, I will mention Vermont, conservatives will have a chance to oust RINO's as well as liberal Dems if only GOPers, Libertarians, Indep. will join to do it. Md. should be supporting Ehrlich against Townsend-Kennedy et al. I had breakfast out here in Ca. with Greg Parke, a Goper going against Bernie Sanders, Socialist of Vermont. He , like Fischer, has to deal with a liberal rat who claims to be conserv. but is lying. Then , if he wins, has to confront Sanders, a horror. Yet it is possible to do. If any Vermonter wants to support Greg, he can go to Voteparke.com or e-mail him at parkegreg@ aol.com It is absolutely imperative to replace Rinos and liberal socialists in Nov. As a Californian , who sees a real conservative in Parke, I already have supported him. I pray others do also. And needlesss to say, let's get behind Fischer.

Isn't Gilcrest one of those assinine McCainiac morons? McCain is a cancer on this nation. Every dollar we have should be used to flush out of office these skunks. God bless the CLub for Growth.

Ping! This battle certainly is making large waves considering the incumbent is 'entrenched' and all.

Thank God we now have a choice here in Maryland! I have been unable to vote for Gilchrest because he has been a major RINO from the start. I met him at a fundraiser in Ocean City before his first run. When I asked him about his view on abortion, I got one of those, "Well though I personally am opposed to abortion, I cannot force my views on others." That was enough for me! My "Fisher for Congress" sign is in my front yard, as well as many others here on Delmarva. We have been particuarly screwed by Gilchrest and his radical enviromentalism!

Question: Does this guy or gal have a first name? Or is he or she so famous that one name suffices? If so, I somehow missed it...

Dave Fischer. He's a conservative trying to get defeat the moderate Wayne Gilchrest (only getting a 48 from the ACU). From what I understand, he's got a good shot, and this is a safe Republican district, so it looks promising.

I was just making the point that it was a poorly written press release (if that's what it was). Go, Dave!

Isn't Gilcrest one of those assinine McCainiac morons? Yes. Gilchrest, big time RINO, supported McClame. He also voted with Clinton more than any other Republican. He is my Congressman and I'm voting for Fischer. I also have three sons, and their families, in the 1st District. They will all vote for Fischer.

The likely DemocRAT competitor...Who is the likely Democrat competitor?
To: ForOurFuture
Who is the likely Democrat competitor? I'm not sure but if it is the same guy who ran last time it would be Bennett Bozman - a member of the Maryland House of Delegates. I damned near pulled his lever last time but I reconsidered and just passed on the Congressional race. I just cannot, in good conscience, vote for Gilchrest. No Way.
By the way, I just faxed Gilchrest's Washington office:
VOTE FOR DAVE FISCHER
ELECT A REAL REPUBLICAN
NO MORE RINOS IN THE 1ST DISTRICT

I find it strange that Fischer's first name is not mentioned in the release.
