But the Catholic church is fair game for every low degrading insult. Why is that?

"What's the matter? Can't Catholics criticize other
Catholics?"
Yes, constructively! Not by listening to a low-life radio show that seeks to make a mockery out of religion.
And I thought you just said that you don't want to discuss anything other than that you thought it was funny. Yet, you keep attacking the Catholic church. To you, ANYTHING is an excuse to attack religion.

It's not unusual to see human scum gravitate towards show biz. And lacking the talent and wit to be intertaining....they normally resort to lewd and sophomoric sexual pranks. I think they are stuck in that childhood stage where they think it's funny to see some grown up's pee pee.
To: LaBelleDameSansMerci
Listen, Sans Merci, I'm getting tired of trying to reiterate that my original post was a bit of humor. It's not "bashing" it's just staring at reality. Too bad some of you don't think it was funny. What is this the inquisition? I didn't "confess" to anything. I just said that no one should be above criticism (even me.) If you feel that the Catholic church is taking a bad rap, you should ask why.

And to think, they passed up an opportunity to gross out Big Brother by "doing it" in front of one of NYC's security cameras...

By fearing God, you put a cap on your own reason. You and Clarence Darrow couldn't be more wrong if you tried. C.S. Lewis said when you give yourself to God, He gives you back to yourself, only better. There are quite a few Christian philosophers like Lewis who could put paid to Clarence Darrow's puny vision.
And the word is not the same, unless you want to challenge every English lexicographer on it.

"No, that wouldn't follow according to my argument. My argument applies when
no property or persons are damaged or destroyed. "
Then your argument is false! Damage WAS done to the right of people to worship peacefully. By now, you've figured out that your original hypothesis was flaweed and you're arguig just to justify yourself.
As to whether I usually judge a group by one representative of it, you know very well what I meant. I think you're running out of locigal responses.

"..."Unbelievable," said New Yorker Ren Brown. "I try not to judge, but that's just going too far." ...While the act of desecration described in the article desrves a lot of comment---the above statement by a scandalizedCatholic is worth a great deal of consideration by Catholics who are wondering what has happened to our Church. It's a sliver of light slanting across the whole horrifying desecration by fops, feminists, philosophical flatulents, flimsy pseudo-men---the whole host of f****rs who are getting it on, one way or another, in the pews, the aisles, the chanceries, the schools, the universities and in the seminaries.
It's consciousness-raising time and I am grateful you took the time to post this consciousness-raising article.
A Catholic Church--a famous, historical spot--was chosen for a reason. Scavengers and predators survive because they choose their targets wisely--rationally. It should make Catholics think long and hard about the fact that, from a modern American pop-culture standpoint a Catholic Church would be a rational choice for pop-desecration.

Thank you, I wholeheartedly agree. What a disgusting, disrespectful, and vile act to do in a sacred place! I just can't believe that ANYONE with an ounce of decency would find anything amusing in this whole thing. What's next? Wait, don't tell me, I don't think I want to know....
To: Behind Liberal Lines
I'm not Catholic, but I've had occasion to attend Mass and I'm fairly certain that that's not how you're supposed to exchange the sign of peace.

"I never listened to anything. Just read the posts at FR."
Yep, and JUMPED on it to do your Catholic bashing.

Yes they can and do. They can also bash the Catholic church as you did when you said, "Just remember what's going on in confessionals and behind closed doors in the Catholic church is not exactly pious and respectful." Since when is telling the truth called bashing. Is what went on a lie? Am I exaggerating? Do you think we should all bury our heads in the sand like Cardinal Law?

1. Prostitution is generally regulated by state law. New York State Penal Law Section 230.25 makes it a Class D felony when someone "knowingly advances or profits from prostitution by managing, supervising, controlling or owning ... a prostitution business or enterprise ". To knowingly advance or profit from prostitution is a class A misdemeanor under Section 230.20.
2. Federal RICO statutes make it illegal to act in concert with other people or organizations to promote prostitution in violation of state law.
The DA's should prosecute this as a RICO case in Federal Court...A sexual act for profit and a violation of the Mann Act.

Bump for the following:
Time to FREEP FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell
mpowell@fcc.gov.
Chairman Powell,
I ask that you investigate and prosecute WNEW-FM for their funding and broadcasting of a public sex act in St. Patrick's Cathedral during religious services. As part of the "Opie and Anthony" radio show, the station paid $7,000 for a couple to have sex during the a religious service only five feet from parishioners. I am outraged by this perversion of our nation's airwaves and their use to fund this sick activity during a solemn mass in a church. I ask you to personally see that the FCC does everything it can to punish this abuse, including rescinding this station's broadcast license.
*******
From the Federal Communications Commission Website on Complaint Mechanism:
"The date and time of the broadcast....Under the Communications Act of 1934, if the Commission assesses a monetary forfeiture against a broadcast station for violation of a rule, it must specify the date the violation occurred. Accordingly, it is important that complainants provide the date the material in question was broadcast. Moreover, under statutory and judicial case law, a broadcaster's right to air indecent speech is protected between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Consequently, the Commission must know the time of day that the material was broadcast.
The call sign of the station involved....The Commission's obscenity/indecency enforcement program is directed at individual broadcast station licensees and not an individual radio announcer, the music industry or a specific music performer. Accordingly, the Commission staff must know the call sign of the station that aired the material. It is not enough, for example, to name the radio announcer who made the on-air statement.
Documented complaints as discussed above should be directed to the Federal Communications Commission, Enforcement Bureau, Investigations & Hearing Division, 445 12th Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20554 Any documentation of the programming, of necessity, becomes part of the Commission's records and cannot be returned.

C'mon eagle conservatives. Time to get organized (like we did against Clinton on a daily basis when action was called for). Time to act like 'liberals' when they are offended by 'hate speech.' The libs take no-holds bar hardball when they are outraged, and they do it mercilessly, for keeps. We need to take a page from their book.
