Judging from the posts so far, the usual catholic bashers have wasted no time stepping forward, bibles swinging!

Here, however, is a novel concept for the more open minded christians. Consider that the Jews are now self evangelizing. The group, Jews for Jesus has come a long way since they were first organized.

I'll repeat my comments I made yesterday on the original thread concerning this story ...

From original statement ...Citing teachings dating back to the Second Vatican Council, and statements by Pope John Paul II throughout his papacy, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops declared unequivocally that the biblical covenant between Jews and God is valid and therefore Jews do not need to be saved through faith in Jesus.

Interesting that they do not mention The Scriptures as playing any role in their decision, only man inspired teachings and statements by the current holder of the papacy. Guess they haven't read John chapter 3 and Christ's conversation with Nicodemus who was the most religious of the most religious yet would be denied The Kingdom unless he was reborn. Sigh - another notch in the belt of Satan!

Those bishops should read Mathew 28:18. That's what bothers me about cathlic doctrine - they put man-made doctrine up there with God-breathed revelation. This humanism began to creep into the catholic church about 1000 years ago when Aquinas tried to reconcile Revelation with humanism (Aristotle). Big mistake. The two are incompatible.

When a church abandons the word of God, it ceases to be a true church. The Roman Catholic Church did that long ago. Time to turn to the Bible and find a church that teaches and preaches God's truth. As the hymn goes, "put no confidence in princes" ~ and that goes for popes and bishops, too.
