Lt. governor draws 40% of funds from outside Maryland 11% of Ehrlich's money is from non-Md. donors; 'A lot of national interest'
By Howard Libit Sun Staff Originally published August 14, 2002
Democrat Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is collecting a significantly greater share of her campaign contributions from out of state than Republican Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., according to an analysis of fund-raising reports.
Almost 40 percent of the $6.7 million raised by Townsend in her campaign for governor came from contributors who live outside Maryland, compared with about 11 percent of the $3.7 million raised by Ehrlich.
Campaign finance reports filed yesterday also show that during the past nine months, the average Townsend contributor gave $468 - about $100 more than was donated by the average Ehrlich supporter.
The Ehrlich campaign contended that the influx of out-of-state contributions to Townsend makes clear that she is out of touch with Marylanders.
"It is further evidence that she cannot sell her record or her vision in Maryland," said Ehrlich spokesman Paul E. Schurick. "The people in Maryland are sick of the Glendening-Townsend record."
Big Snip !!!!

Did anyone see the Capital paper for yesterday? (aug 13)
There's a funny story by her campaign I'd like to share.
"Mrs. Townsend reported raising $6.7 million in her campaign treasury. Mr. Ehrlich... has raised $3.6 million...
Kate Phillips, spokesman for Mrs. Townsend, noted that the lieutenant governor could not raise money during the General Assembly session because state law restricts fund-raising efforts by state officials while the legistlature meets."
Here's the kicker:
"For 90 days in the spring, we were not permitted to raise funds. That's a lot of time," Mrs. Phillips said. "The fact that he has raised more money can be attributed to the 90-day break that we took."
Did I miss something???

In the race for state comptroller, former Gov. William Donald Schaefer reported raising $610,000 - including almost $140,000 since November - and he has almost $309,000 left to spend. Gawd, this old wind bag will never go away! Hey Willy-Don, this former resident of the "Sh!ithouse" says "Bite me!". I hear that the hot button issue of the campaign has been resolved; no matter who becomes governor, the fountain is getting turned back on. Whew! What a load off of everyone's mind!

And yet Ehrlich is managing to stay tied in the polls with KKT. I imagine the recent polling news has helped his fundraising quite a bit.
For anyone, in MD or out of state, who would like to donate to Mr. Ehrlich's campaign to send a Kennedy packing:

Amen to that! Down with the lie that is Camelot.

I don't consider this a double post. Post away! The more "KKT exposed" threads the better. I was just providing a link between the two since they are on the same topic.

My sentiments exactly !!!!!!!
LOL!!!
It looks like the Republicans have launched a full blitz on the Maryland Democratic machinery !!!!
This is going to be one ugly political firefight to see if the Republicans can rout the firmly entrenched Democrat Mafia machinery in Maryland.

Also from the Sun today:
The Townsend camp's mission yesterday was clear. In introducing her, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings reminded the crowd in a sermon-style speech that they must not forget the "humane" policies that made them Democrats in the first place. "Amen, Elijah," Townsend said when he had finished. "Hallelujah. You spoke truth, and with your truth we are going to bring power to the people. ... You said it, brother."
LOL!!! I don't even know what to say about this quote. This woman should not be governor of a State. She is a joke.

KKT is going down and we will see to that.Actually I think that is just happening. But the Democrats have one trick that never fails them.
The dead always vote 110% for the rats.
No way we can beat that.

"Hallelujah. You spoke truth, and with your truth we are going to bring power to the people. ... You said it, brother." Please tell me this was Mr. Cumming's response and not KKT. I don't mean to be nasty...but you really can't get much whiter than KKT....if she uttered those words...people were probably pinching themselves so as not to laugh out loud.
