The article is on the 12th Aug 2002 front page of newsmax.com but the date near the author say 12 Aug 2001.

Which one is it?

Aug 12, 2001 was not a Monday if this is any help. And the fact that we were not attacked until after August 12, 2001 might also be some indication.

Who wants to bet we won't see this article on the front page of the NY Times. You see, it's just not news.

Good eye! newsmax should be more careful. It would be a lot more excusable if this were January, but in the eighth month of the year....

It is obviously 2002, as it refers to Bush's War on Terrorism.

By the way, Zell Miller bears much responsibility for the failure of the Senate under the control of his party to support the President. As was correctly pointed out here on FR last week, Miller could have secured the confirmation of Bush's judges, won the energy policy, and brought victory on many other issues he supposedly supports. He would not have had to change partys to do it. Just vote with the Republican caucas. The sorry a-hole won't do it.

Thanks for a great post.

Senator Zell Miller is not a democrat - he's an American.

Remember when all elected members of the House and Senate were Americans first and party members second? America was not divided, and not ambiguous. America prospered and became a great power for goodness in the world.

"I had watched in great disappointment when we did nothing after the terrorists first attacked the World Trade Center in 1993, killing six and injuring more than 1,000 Americans," Miller said.

Miller noted that another serious terrorist incident went unresponded to by Clinton.

Well, obviously Senator Miller didn't respond at the time, either.......It's taken him this long to come out of the political closet and have enough nerve to 'slam' Clinton....He should had opened his mouth back when these things occurred.

I notice he still remains a Democrat....and, by doing so, allows Daschle to destroy whatever Republic we still have....I wonder if he feels responsible in any way.....

Don't worry about the date.

Zell voted for Tom Daschle as majority leader-everything else is a lie.

Exactly my thoughts as I read this Newsmax piece. I'm afraid we won't see this in any mainstream media outlet. But I certainly will not attack Miller for speaking the truth - we should all stand behind the Georgia Senator's comments and pass them along.

Come on, cut him some slack.

Zell Miller ran as a Democrat. As such, he pretty much had to vote for a Democrat for majority leader (this is the one type of vote for which breaking with your party is seen as an unforgiveable betrayal -- worse perhaps than just switching parties). We can't blame him for having more integrity than that horse's behind from Vermont, and not becoming a Republican after getting elected as a Democrat.

A lot of tough words Sen. Miller. What actions have YOU taken? Still support Tom Dashcle as majority leader?

Zell voted for Tom Daschle as majority leader

It wouldn't matter. Senate rules are such that Daschle would only need 26 votes to be majority leader in the current Senate.

Senate Majority Leader is voted on only by the party in power (and 26 out of 50 dumbocrats is enough), unlike Speaker of the House which is voted on by the full House.

Under Senate rules, democrats have to vote for democrats for majority leader. It's the nature of the (partisan) position.

Majority leader is a position under internal rules set by the Senate. (Article I, Sec. 5).

Unfortunately, Senator Zig-Zag is too busy supporting Max Cleland's senatorial campaign to notice much. At least this is the impression I get from Atlanta TV.

Miller is a Dumbocrap. He'll always be a Dumbocrap.

It's nice at this late date that he noticed that Sick Willie Clintooooon made ridiculous responses to acts of terrorism performed while Sick was El Presidente Grande. A day late and a dollar short.
