JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen infiltrated a Jewish settlement in the West Bank on Saturday night, and one person was killed and several wounded in the ensuing firefight, Israeli security sources said.
They said two or more gunmen penetrated Mehora in the Jordan Valley under cover of darkness as the Jewish sabbath ended, and were still exchanging fire with Israeli security forces.
Israel Radio put the preliminary Israeli casualty toll at five, including one killed, and said one of the gunmen was also believed killed.
Palestinians waging a 22-month-old uprising for independence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip have frequently targeted Jewish settlements.

Manhunt Still Ongoing for Second Terrorist in Mechora
(IsraelNN.com) At about 10:00pm, terrorists entered the Jordan Valley community of Mechora and began firing in all directions. An Israeli female was killed and at least two others injured, one seriously and the second, moderate-to-serious. One terrorist was killed and a second is the subject of an ongoing manhunt.
Mechora is located between Gitit Junction and the central Jordan Valley. The residents of the community remain closed down in their homes with lights out as the army continues searching for another terrorist believed still at large. The shooting has reportedly stopped over the past twenty minutes but the situation is still not declared under control.
The wounded were taken to a hospital by an army helicopter. Additional confirmed details will be published as they become available. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=28152
