Diamond Mogul and Philanthropist Has Ear of Fellow Jews, World Leaders

"There are a number of apocryphal stories about Lev Leviev, the Israeli diamond mogul who has become one of the Jewish world´s pre-eminent philanthropists.

Among these stories, which have acquired almost mythological status among Leviev´s followers, is the one about his 1990 audience with the late Lubavitch rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson."

. . . Chubaka, defended the diamond monopoly . . .

If so, then I'm starting to see things in a different light. Could it be that Blood Diamonds are critical and necessary in wars against the Evil Empire? Does that implicate Luke, Princess Leah and R2D2 too???

Isn't it true that Al Qaeda finances its terrorist activities and launders its money through the African diamond trade? Wonder why you have no interest in that.

I am very interested in that. Check out my reply #31 and follow the link. Check out the other posts on the subject of diamonds. Bah, the RUF, Hezbollah, Libya and Lebanese are mentioned, by me, over and over.

Haven't said much about it on this thread because I don't know of Al Qaeda deals in the Congo. All the reports I've seen have them operating in the Sierra Leone/Liberia area.

I think Larry's point is that there are some major connections to the democratic party and some of their big time donors in this particular scandal.

Diamonds are a Democrats best friend.

Jani Roberts (check out her website...fascinating):

Chapter 8. The Private Agent.

One day a brochure from a conservative think tank called 'National Endowment for Democracy' landed on my desk. Give us a call, it said, and we can provide you with the experts you need for your programs.

I called and asked them: 'Do you have an expert on Africa?' 'Yes,' came the reply. 'We have a man called Gerry Funk.'

'Does he really know Africa?' I asked.

'He was the African expert on the National Security Council.'

This convinced me that he would be interesting. The National Security Council advised the President. It was above the CIA. Oliver North had been a member of it. So I asked to be put in touch with him. Fortunately he was also visiting New York. I phoned him at his hotel.

'Would you be able to give me some time?'

'I am sorry, I cannot. I am leaving tomorrow for Zaire. Maurice Tempelsman has hired me.'

Templesman's influence has continued in Africa. When I went to South Africa in 1994, a leading member of the ANC , the newly appointed Chairman of the Parliamentary Minerals and Energy Committee, Marcel Golding, out of the blue asked me what I knew of Tempelsman. When I asked why he wanted to know about him, he told me that Tempelsman had asked him for a New York meeting, When I went to Namibia in 1995, I found Tempelsman entrenched as the financial advisor of the President, Sam Nujomo ...

The Tempelsman story does not end there. When I investigated the Russian diamond industry in 1995, I found ... he and Jacqueline Onassis entertained President Clinton on Tempelsman's yacht. Then in 1995 Tempelsman travelled to Moscow with President Clinton on Air Force One after which he won financing from the governmental Ex-Im Bank for his ventures in Moscow. (Washington Post 2 Aug. 1997).

CNN

Now, as she walked along the beach at Martha's Vineyard, Hillary's thoughts went back to that August five years earlier when Jackie had first invited the Clintons to the Vineyard. No sooner had they boarded the Relemar, the seventy-foot yacht belonging to Jackie's longtime love Maurice Templesman, than the First Family was whisked off for some Kennedy-style daredevil fun.

The Relemar dropped anchor off a tiny deserted island, and everyone went for a swim. Jackie's daughter, Caroline, and Chelsea jumped thirty feet off the Relemar's highest diving platform. Goaded by her husband into following them, Hillary was terrified when she climbed to the top and looked down.

"Jump!" the President shouted at his wife as she trembled at the top of the platform. "Don't be a chicken, Hillary. Go ahead and jump! Jump! JUMP!"

With her husband and now several Kennedy men yelling at her to jump, Hillary was about to take the plunge when suddenly she heard Jackie's voice above the others. From down in the water, Jackie yelled, "Don't do it, Hillary! Don't do it! Just because they're daring you, you don't have to!" Heeding Jackie's advice, Hillary slowly descended the ladder to a less harrowing height before making the leap into icy water.

The details of that day would remain etched in Hillary's mind forever -- the cool breeze and brilliant sunshine, lunch on the deck of the Relemar, the visit to Jackie's seaside compound, and the long walk along her pristine private beach. Throughout it all, the two First Ladies spent hours sharing their thoughts and dreams and fears. Hillary later used just one word to describe the visit: "magical."

You support McKinney. And you are on her side becausde she is anti-Israel and seems to dislike Jews, like you.

McKinney is messing up the Democratic Party pipeline to money from Africa.

Why would a conservative not cheer her on?

Why do you want the nice cozy relationship between DeBeer's front man, Maurice Tempelsman, and the Democratic Party to continue unmolested?

CYNTHIA McKINNEY needs your help, Comrades. If you support her better contribute. Meanwhile we GOP'ers will be working hard to defeat her.

McKINNEY CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTORS: ARAB/MIDDLE EASTERN GROUPS, INDIVIDUALS HEAVILY REPRESENTED

Shocking revelations about terrorist-sympathetic organizations

April 16, 2002

ATLANTA: Fast on the heels of inflammatory public statements by U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA), alleging the Bush administration's "close ties" to energy and defense companies may be guiding U.S. policy in the war on terrorism, the Southeastern Legal Foundation today released a summary report of McKinney's 1999-2000 campaign contributions, revealing that 21 percent of her financial contributions of $101 or more came from Arab or Middle Eastern-connected individuals and organizations, including the American-Muslim Council and the Council on American/Islamic Relations, both of which maintain ties or have expressed support for terrorist organizations.

o Of 397 contributors who gave more than $101 to McKinney's 1999-2000 election campaign, eighty-three (83) were identifiably Arab or Middle Eastern-connected -- 21 percent of these contributors to her campaign. (Source: Federal Elections Commission disclosure reports, Georgia Secretary of State disclosure reports)

o Among the organizations identified in her disclosures, the American-Muslim Council (AMC) and the Council on American/Islamic Relations (CAIR) were included.

-- AMC "were busy - on various undeniable, on-the-record occasions - expressing sympathy for the 1993 World Trade Center bombers and support for terrorist outfits like Hamas and Hezbollah." (The Weekly Standard, Nov. 26, 2001)

-- Abdurahman Alamoudi, founder and former executive director with the AMC, attended an anti-Israel protest outside the White House on Oct. 28, 2000. "Alamoudi revved up the crowd, saying: "I have been labeled by the media in New York as being a supporter of Hamas. Anybody supporters of Hamas here?" The crowd cheered. "Hear that, Bill Clinton? We are all supporters of Hamas . . . I wish they added that I am also a supporter of Hezbollah.""(Both groups are on the State Department's official list of terrorist organizations) (The Phoenix, Monday, April 1, 2002, quoting from Salon writer Jake Tapper, Sept. 26, 2001).

*That may very well be, but I think Larry's point is that there are some major connections to the democratic party and some of their big time donors in this particular scandal.

Any theory on why he focuses only on Jews? And why he makes charges that are unsubstantiated against these Jews?

You did not answer my question. The donor list of fat cats who contribute to the DNC is long. Why do you think LarryLied only focuses on the Jewish ones? Any ideas?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Templesman isn't exactly at the top of the Dem party's list as a mover and shaker.

As Cynthia will be glad to tell you, when you get into the rape of the Congo, you get not only into diamond mining, also extractive industries in general. Many of the big players are people like Herman Cohen (Jew for LL maybe) and James Woods and their CWI, the major lobbyist for multiple African dictatorships. They tie in to several former administrations, hint, not Dem. Think Barrack Resources, a major player in the Congo with an ex president (hint, not Clinton or Carter) on the board. Think oil companies and the enviornment. I see America's disinterest in Africa as a trajedy, though a bi-partisan one. If you think this is an important Republican election issue, you're dreaming, and wasting your time.

BTW, if you're interested in the issue and Cynthia is reelected, which she will be after a primary victory, she's already indicated she'll be using her position as ranking Dem on the Human Rights subcommittee (Intl Relations, she's on Armed Forces too) to focus on international human rights abuses caused by the US. And I'll bet she'll be talking a lot more about George Bush, JR and SR, than Maurice Templesman.

The fact that Tempelsman is Jewish isn't especially relevent, but the fact that he is a major donor to the democratic party is.

You’re right, it’s not relevant. What’s a “big” donor, $50,000 to assorted campaigns annually? It’s very nice, but not big time.

He dated Jackie and gave a grand to Pat Kennedy’s campaign three years ago. That’s a “Kennedy” connection? I’d suggest you need to look elsewhere for scandal, and someone supporting McKinney based on this has something else on their mind, namely her reelection this fall.
