I say he should..
Bill 'O is making a fortune, Rush Limbaugh is making a fortune.. The Conservative ideal sells, it's worth something and when given a chance we dominate in every way, shape and form..
So, what's so different about FR? Why should FR be exempt from these rewards?
Your comments please.

Informal Poll: Should Jim Robinson make money from FR? Hell, YES!
Why is this even a question?
What am I missing? Capitalism rules. You do your best, Jim. When I give money to FR, it's for your use as you wish.
To: Jhoffa_
Yep...
And plenty of it too.

What a great idea, sure let's open the site up to politically motivated IRS auditing and such.. this is a no-brainer, STAY NON-PROFIT!
To: Jhoffa_
It's entirely up to him as far as I'm concerned. It's his to do with what he wants and as he pleases.
To: Jhoffa_
I guess I'm out of the loop ... who's bitching about FR's finances?
To: All
why should he do anything other than what HE decides to do?...i would think that if donations provide a stable and sufficient income...he will continue fund raisers...and if subscriptions serve that need...it would be surprising if he didn't go that way...either way...i doubt that he should be concerned about losing visitors...actually, i feel sure that the number of members wil continue to GROW either way...his choice...he has earned that choice

Short answer = Yes.
This reminds me of an interview with one of this countries best CEOs, G.E.s Jack Welch. Jack was being interviewed by some limo-lib, trying to pin him down about "socially responsible companies".
INTERVIEWER: "What can companies do to be more socially responsible"?
JACK: "Be profitable"
He's right. How much 'comunity philanthropy' will Enron do this year? Will Worldcom be giving education scholarships this year? I doubt it.
If FR has profit left over at the end of the year, it means they can do more good NEXT year.
1)Add value.
2)Reinvest.
3)Repeat.
To: Jhoffa_; Jim Robinson
I think he should do whatever he likes. If he wants to make money its fine with me.
If he wants to hire me for my rapier like wit and sheer unadulterated brilliance, thats fine too.
I'll be here if its free and I'll be here if I have to pay. Either way I agree, this is the Rush Limbaugh of the internet.
To: Jhoffa_
Absolutely without question, the owners of FR should pay themselves what their product and market will bear.
I would eschew the use of referring to "profit from FR" and use instead "compensation from FR".

Yes, Jim Robinson deserves to make money on FR. It is WAY beyond a hobby. And.....as I read on another thread (wink),... REAL conservatives reward success, socialists don't!

"Should he" should not even be a question. This site takes nothing (except most of my waking hours), pollutes nothing, injures no one (except those who despise the light of truth), and would be 100% legal if we had the same discussions looking at a single copy of the newspaper at some local bistro. (Free Republic IS our bistro, and the copies of the articles we share were free to begin with.)
There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER to oppose a profit-making venture of this kind. (Does anyone ask this about DU, publicly-traded Salon, etc?!? Do they get sued for doing the same thing we do?)
The real question is, CAN he make a profit, and the sheer quality, addictiveness, and value of this site certainly say, unequivocally, "YES!"
The large volume of voluntary donations (for this free product) would also be a huge indicator of the profit potential.

Jim Robinson has created the best conservative website on the internet. It is offered for free to anyone who clicks on it, and that offer includes the news of the world and some of the best commentary available anywhere. Those who wish to may donate money to maintain it. When FR starts to stink, it will start to sink. But I can't see that happening anytime soon, if ever.
Jim Robinson is in a wheelchair. So is his wife. Should he be able to survive and eat? Yes. But just for starters. I won't be happy until the Robinsons are making enough money to hire people to help them with their day-to-day living, to be quite honest. A trip to a therapeutic spa every once in a while would be nice, too.
The people who gripe about money are sick, sick, sick and they break my heart.
The possibility of a member of the VRWC making a profit thrills me to the core. It would be about bloody time.

Real Conservatives reward success. We honor it. YES!!!
To: Jhoffa_
Yes, I know this is a work of his heart that he loves to do, but this is real work and he deserves whatever compensation he can get.
I would suggest he also write a book about topics that were unfolded here on this site that had an effect on the political scene.
He should keep the money from a book like that as well.
Being profitable and paid is not evil! It is a good thing.
Jim seems a great fellow aand I wish him all the best.
"May he live long and profit"

Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR. Now that have had a comment pulled by "The Illustrious Moderator" and am one of the bad guys I think he should make millions!
