I am sick of the whining about FR's finances.
Free Republic has become the Rush Limbaugh of the internet and all this complaining about who is doing what and profiting thus is making me Ill. It's a circular argument and I am tired of it.
Real Conservatives reward success. We honor it.
As a final end to this:
Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR.
Oh yes. You missed them and you missed the anti-freeps.
They bitch ENDLESSLY.. they cannot sleep.. Worried that somehow Mr. Robinson is "making money"
Heavens!
This thread is the center of their argument.. and they have been hashing it for years.
I don't care if Mr. Robinson makes a profit or not.. His decision.
I just want them to shut up. I want this to be the end all thread and the ultamate answer to their whining.
Why should you care? What business of it is your if Mr. Robinson is flying a lear or starving in a cardboard box?
Gee, I dunno, whose business is it whether Ken Lay flys a Lear Jet or Bernie Ebbers pilots a 100' Hatteras Yacht?
If you're gonna be in the business of begging for other people's money, it seems to me that you owe them an explanation of how you spend it. It's what we prudish old neanderthal types call accountability.
Otherwise, ditch the not-for-profit pretense altogether, and charge $49.99 a year for subscriptions. Then it really will be JimRob's money, and he can do with it whatever the hell he pleases.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but four quarterly $75,000 fundraisers gives a budget of $300,000 a year. If you figure $10,000 a month for about 15Mbps from the local telco, that's about $120,000 a year for bandwidth. Throw in, say, $30,000 a year for hardware and miscellaneous overhead, and that leaves Jim & John Rob with $150,000 in pocket change. Not bad for a non-profit.
Just be honest about it:
Hi, my name is Jim Robinson, and last year I paid myself a salary of $75,000. This money came from donations to the FreeRepublic LLC.Hi, my name is John Robinson, and my Dad pays me a salary of $75,000. This money comes from donations to the FreeRepublic LLC.
Boy, you sure don't ask for much, do you??? LOL.
No problem..
Simply refuse to contribute. OH! But you can't!
Somehow the internet sucks your money and forces open your wallet!
(Do you send money to the moonies also?)
I'm 100% in agreement. Conservatives need to support conservative voices. I subscribe to the Washington Times, etc. If we're serious about overtaking the Liberal Media, then we need to 'contribute' to our beliefs! The Libs are getting it for free. . .
LOL! You have to dream a dream..
(And every post this thread generates goes right back in their faces.. all of them. If they say "show me proof" it's all right here. The end all argument: We don't care if Mr. Robinson makes a profit.)
I always wondered what "The Almighty Zap Button" looked like.
For some reason, I alway assumed JR used a joystick when banning disruptors.
It what the rest of us call being a busybody.
I detect a note of jealousy and envy in your posts.
Truly liberal traits.
For heavens sakes.
Man, I thought 7154 was good. You are THE man!
Damned right I would.
;-)
Did you miss the point of this thread? We're all saying that we DO NOT CARE how much they make over and above what it cost to run this place.
That evidently is what is bothering you. Don't pay. Somebody else will pay enough so you can have a free ride.
BTW, FR is not a non-profit.
Am I missing something here? I thought this site belonged to Jim Robinson and we are allowed to participate in it. There are rules to abide by and we can donate to the site if we want to keep it going.
From some of the posts I've read it seems some believe Jim was appointed to run this site for them and he should be accountable to them.
If you like this site and want it to continue, donate. If you don't like the way it is run, leave.
Mr.Robinson,
Great site, glad to contribute, hope you make a fortune..
