Taff has a squeaky ball that she just loves, and when the stupid thing goes silent, she acts like it's died.
When she was younger, she would howl, and circle it, and grieve like it was a dead puppy- now that she's older, she just lies with it between her paws and heaves great, gasping sighs of mourning.
Last night the damable thing went silent again, and I fixed it by salvaging the parts from an old squeaky with a hole in it... but I made a grievous error- when I cut the old one open, I left it on the top of the trash where she could see it...
Naturally, she dragged the carcass out of the trash, took it to her "mother" to witness this foul deed-- and she has regarded me with suspicion ever since. Her beloved father cut squeaky open like the Christmas turkey...
